I recently visited here for my husbands birthday and it truly did deliver. We stayed for 1 night in the nutmeg room, although it wasn't the biggest of rooms it was pristine and had an outstanding view of the harbour. We ate in the restaurant the night we stayed, very nice atmosphere and lovely decor. the staff were very helpful... More

We stayed here 3 years ago and our return visit had been eagerly awaited as the food on that occasion had been excellent. We were very disappointed. The menu was extremely limited and unchanged over the 2 nights we stayed giving us very little choice for the second night. The starters were good though and we looked forward to the... More

Had lunch here and it was superb to say the very least. The food is outstanding and all the different components on the plates are carefully thought out, constructed and served in such a delightful way. I was blown away by all the dishes especially the bream, which was beautifully cooked and served alongside the most delicious crunchy vegetables and... More

Booked one night plus dinner for our wedding anniversary Slightly odd first impressions with tricky parking and narrow entrance, however once in a very nicely decorated restaurant and public areas. Room (nutmeg) was small but well designed with a lovely view over the harbour. Dinner was fabulous. Four choices for each course was not huge however the fairly conventional basis... More

I came here to eat on a Friday night, the restaurant was busy with a nice buzzing atmosphere. I have been to the restaurant before and can defiantly see some changes to the style of food being produced, by who I can only describe as a very talented and imaginative chef! All I can say is carry on doing what... More

Location wonderful, decor formal, linen table cloths , napkins, polished glasses , so far so good. Not a lot of choice on the menu and when we went for lunch we were the only diners.and now we know why. The food was quite dreadful lots of fanfare on the menu but virtually nothing you would want to eat on the... More

We concur with Gerlad M in all his observations and I probably would not have written a review had I not read his and felt vindicated. It is such a shame, we had really been looking forward to a child free night away and a very special anniversary, in fact we've been meaning to go to 36 on the Quay... More

Sorry but this was not up to what one would expect from a very expensive Michelin starred restaurant. Entrance to the building is a narrow slit and at the front door on the left is what looks like a Portaloo door. The reception area is poky and dull. Narrow passageway to the restaurant which felt like a glorified boarding house... More

Stayed at 36 on the Quay in the only remaining room available which turned out to be probably the 2nd best room in the establishment. This was the Saffron room which was actually an apartment complete with separate lounge and kitchen – amazing! OK, it’s not on the front overlooking the estuary but the size of the room far makes... My hubby and I have just returned from a 2 night stay in the Cinnamon room. The room was spacious and nicely decorated. The staff were all very welcoming and the service was excellent. We decided to opt for their deal where we could eat in the restaurant both evenings. The first being the taster menu and the following from... More
