I wish there was a "good" option here rather than "very good" as I would have used it. We had a good lunch here recently, not very good. I thought that the starters were very small for £8 or so. The bread was delicious & my main course tasty although two of our party had chips & were not overly... More

My family and I ate here recently for a family birthday celebration. I found the menu very limiting, there was not much on it that we liked the sound of. Most of us had steak for main, the actual steak (rump) was particularly good quality and cooked well, every one really enjoyed it, but the triple cooked chips were really... More

We have been regulars of the Anchor for many years, celebrating my parent's 50th wedding Anniversary and our 20th wedding Anniversary in the private room and staying in the pub overnight. This WAS my favourite place to go and eat with my husband. The pub has recently changed hands. We went a month ago and were really disappointed as the... More

My wife and I had a really enjoyable time at The Anchor Inn. There was nothing on the menu that I didn't want and everything we chose was cooked well, nicely presented and delivered by friendly helpful staff.

I wanted to love this venue, which was a quintessential english country pub, its low ceilings and beams and gentle jazz made for a great first impression. The menu looked tasty and worth a visit…but I think it was style over substance. My starter of salmon was an odd combination of salmon slices and very few of them on a... More

This is a tricky revue as we were a small wedding party of 7 adults and 2 children which my friends were paying for. I was paying for the honeymoon suite which was pleasant, though the 2 cracked tiles on the bathroom floor should have been replaced. There was a balcony overlooking a courtyard and the fields beyond which the... More

We recently stayed here for the Valentine's weekend. What a great place. Our room was warm, comfortable and spacious and was beautifully furnished with oodles of charm. The bed was extremely comfortable and we enjoyed 2 very good nights sleep. There were tea and coffee facilities available in the room and a lovely extra touch of homemade flapjack on one... More

We have been to The Anchor many times in our 5 years living here and in fact had both our son's 18th and husband's 50th party at The Anchor. We have always had great food and great service. Today we got neither; the service was appalling and the food on a par. Throughout the meal we were offered neither bread,... More

We stayed here on a Sunday night and booked a dinner bed & breakfast at a very reasonable rate. The food was excellent, I had pear, stilton and goats cheese salad, Pork 3 ways and a chocolate brownie, all very good. The waitress was sweet and attentive and the atmosphere of the place is lovely. Our room was stunning with... More

We stayed in the Wilfred Owen room. It was perfect, such a lovely decorated room, full of character with pictures, ornaments and really heavy curtains. The pub is amazing with low beams, comfy seats, and a roaring log fire. There were three local beers on draught, my favourite was triple fff's Moondance.
