Stayed for one night and very happy with service. Food was excellent but I was disappointed that my first choice was unavailable and I do feel the portion size could have been a bit bigger. Breakfast was very nice but again would have liked more then one sausage & egg, otherwise a lovely visit.

I haven't tried the rooms but the location is perfect; tranquil, relaxing and very fine good and drink with great selections of wine. The waiting staff work hard to provide a polite, enthusiastic service. This place is perfect for a quick stop-off (coffee is nice here) or a lovely meal as the menu is mainly fresh.

I've eaten at the Anchor on a number of occasions but in a lunchtime visit on Bank Holiday Monday we all noticed a slip in the speed of service. The food was up to the normal excellent standard, but with a full restaurant there only seemed to be 3 waitresses working and one of these was obviously new to the... More

We went here for a celebration lunch. Service was friendly, food was really good with a range of enticing options. My asparagus starter was fresh, the steak and ale pie had proper shortcrust pastry, lumps of good meat and a tasty gravy to eat with the mash. Other half's lamb was tasty but wasn't a plateful - not a hearty... More

Me and my partner needed a break outside of London and this was perfect. A mere hour and 15 out of London the anchor inn is an easy and quick retreat. When we arrived the staff were really accommodating and our room was gorgeous. What I like the most was the personal touches, milk already in the mini bar for... More

This beautiful country inn is the perfect combination of a warm welcome and a comfortable room when you come in from the rain. The cherry on top is the excellent food in the downstairs restaurant - where they knew the changing menu very well and were happy to make accommodations and substitutions for my annoying gluten-intolerance. Breakfast in the morning... More

A great place in the Hampshire countryside, set on a quiet road, with lovely views on the fields. The old pub has traditional low ceilings and wood fires and the extended area and garden offer a very pleasant restaurant with a varied menu of well cooked and presented food. Staff are competent a d friendly. We stayed for the night... More

Stayed overnight at The Anchor Inn for a works Christmas party. The pub is in the middle of the country and retains a lovely original feel, and walking through the door is like stepping back in time. Be warned though, the ceilings are very low throughout, so a lot of hunching will be required! The food was fantastic, one of... More

We've just returned from spending one night at The Anchor following our daughter's wedding there on Monday. We had exclusive use of the inn for the wedding ceremony followed by afternoon tea for 36 then an evening party with buffet for 80ish. The food was absolutely fantastic (home-made bread sandwiches, cakes, etc) whilst the service was excellent. Amy the manageress... More

We were a family party of seven including children. The pub is quirky with plenty of interest, well worth wandering round to investigate every nook and cranny. Two roaring log fires are very welcoming but, unfortunately with children and the size of our group, we couldn't eat in either of those rooms. The dining room had rugs draped over the... More
