Lovely room but smelt of cooking. Also, bulbs out on 3 fittings. Room not made up on final night. I stayed 2 nights my wife 3. Main complaint was of slow service in the restaurant especially at breakfast. 8 am first sitting is too late for business guests. On first day there was no hollandaise sauce for eggs benedict with... First visit on a Monday evening, as staying in the area. Parking available. Nice country venue for dinner for two, having booked in advance. Good ambiance in the restaurant. Service throughout was excellent - thank you to the staff! Let down a bit by the food, which for the price should be of a better standard. Fairly limited choice available,... More

Firstly I'm not one for old rustic hotels, but normally stay in chain branded sites. Saying that my wife booked us in to the anchor inn for one nights stay in order to attend a wedding. Upon arrival you are struck by the charm of the building and. All its contents, the room we stayed in was stunning, slept very... More

I stayed here for 2 nights whilst attending a wedding locally and was immediately impressed with the building and its setting. The low ceilings, old furniture and dated pictures on the wall create a real warmth and the garden at the back is very spacious with delightful scenery all around. The style of the bedrooms is traditional which I liked... More

I stayed here on a Sunday night after attending a wedding at Froyle Park. The staff were lovely and upgraded us to the best suite at the inn as there weren't people occupying it. The room was lovely and large with a very comfortable bed. The shower was great. Breakfast the next morning was very yummy and we both ordered... More

Been here a couple of times before and the food and service have always been up to standard. Went for Sunday lunch with the family recently and the food was not so good and the service a disaster. They were clearly understaffed but tried their best to cope. I'm not going to list all that was wrong, but a couple... More

As well as a good restaurant this used to be a really good location for decent ales, especially from the triple f brewery in Alton, a great brewing town. Since being sold the pub seems to have moved to Marston's which would be fine if they used all three taps but recently there only seems to have been one ale... More

A rare 5 star review from me. Charming old pub where rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Sensibly priced for the quality and friendly and helpful staff. Beds and fittings generally were good quality and breakfast first class and well presented. Thanks and well done. Watty

We stayed at the Anchor Inn for a wedding taking place nearby. It was wonderful and we only wish we’d stayed longer. Before the wedding, we had lunch in the restaurant, which was superb. Both the bread and soup were homemade. The room was delightful, with tea and coffee making facilities and a comfy bed. The bathroom was modern and... More

I have eaten here on a number of occasions, but this time really stood out for me. The service was attentive but not in your face, the front of house team worked really well never once failing to be assertive about the menu and drinks. My past visits where with the old owners, however the new landlord really knows what... More
