we were recommended to this restaurant as a meeting place between winchester and guildford and it did not disappoint. The menu is different and all the food was excellent. The staff were very pleasant and efficient Parking is easy and the decor really comfortable

We went for Sunday lunch at the Anchor this weekend. The choices on the menu were refreshingly different, but with also many traditional dishes as well. The quality of the food was exceptional - as was the choice in wines. The staff were friendly as well as professional and nothing was too much trouble! I can thoroughly recommend this venue!

I arrived here very late at night - travelling on business. Nothing was too much trouble. The welcome was genuine (they also talked me in when i got lost in the fog!) and I was put at ease after a stressful 5 hour journey. My room was delightful, the shower powerful and the REN toiletries were a lovely touch. Breakfast... More

Took my elderly parents to the Anchor for lunch the other Thursday and we were all highly impressed with the level of friendly and attentive (not overbearing) service and the standard of the food which was served just as you would like not too fast or too slow. If you are over 6ft please be mind full of the low... More

We stayed here for one night prior to attending a friend's wedding in nearby Farnham. The bar and restaurant were very busy when we arrived but we were welcomed and checked in quickly at the bar before being shown up to the Rupert Brooke suite. We were very impressed with the room, just as we imagined having seen a photo,... More

I was there for a wedding, taking place in Winchester, the reception in another village, and the rehearsal party in yet another village. Even with a GPS (or Sat Nav as it's called here), some of these places are unnamed roads, so go by the postcode. There is usually nobody to ask directions from. It was tucked on the side... More

I have travelled the world and eaten food at some of the most revered restaurants and hotels in the world... I am a real foodie with exceptionally high expectations and standards. I also consider myself quite a reasonably good cook :-). I was so impressed with the food at The Anchor Inn, that my fiancé and I have chosen to... More

We booked this to experience UK pub life and we stayed a couple of nights to explore the surroundings. However, if this is a "quintessential English Country Inn" according to another reviewer, we are probably not cut out for this. It's mainly the price-quality ratio that seems wrong, food wise and room wise . Especially comparing this with another place... More

Total lack of staff and a very limited menu on A Sunday Evening Tasty steak but very tough. Steak and Ale pie - dry and tough. We keep going back in the hope that it might have got better but it doesn't.

Stayed for one night and very happy with service. Food was excellent but I was disappointed that my first choice was unavailable and I do feel the portion size could have been a bit bigger. Breakfast was very nice but again would have liked more then one sausage & egg, otherwise a lovely visit.
