We stayed for one night in the Garden Suite and everything was perfect. Very comfortable bed which is huge! Great bathroom with power shower. Nice white fluffy towels. Breakfast was delicious with good quality products. We will stay again when we return in the summer for more fun on the steam trains. I recommend the RAT (real ale train) if... More

Stayed here for the night this last weekend as my partner was attending a writing course at the Jane Austen Centre, in Chawton. I have no problem understanding why this b&b gets such good reviews.... Joan and Jack made us so welcome, their home is a real gem - a former catholic church hall converted to a very high standard,... More

I have used St.Mary's Hall now for two years for all my business guests rather than a full blown hotel. The comfort, food and pure hospitality far outstrips anything else on offer in the area. Joan and Jack go out of their way to make guests welcome and i have had nothing but praise for them from my guys. You... More

St Mary's Hall is a gem of a B&B! I needed a place to stay near Chawton, as I was visiting Jane Austen's Cottage. It only took me 5 minutes to travel each day, and Joan and Jack let me take my luggage around early, before I went to visit Chawton in the morning. The room in the tower was... More

Excellent 3 night stay in the ensuite room in the grounds. Super comfort with a bathroom which truly works. Breakfasts to die for and Jack even seen scraping the ice off my car. 100% positive recommendation. Tom and Dee Seabrook 28-30 December 2013

We stayed here for one night in the Tower room. A very pretty and comfortable room with a really smart up to date bathroom. Breakfast was excellent - great quality ingredients perfectly cooked. Joan and Jack could not have been more hospitable or helpful. Strongly recommended. We visited Jane Austen's house nearby which was very interesting.

I stayed here again last night. It was short notice. As usual Joan and Jack were the ideal hosts. Lovely smart room. Great facilities. The shower room is pure luxury, so trendy. Breakfast as usual is the highlight. Guests sit together round the table. Great way to meet new people If you are staying in Alton and are fortunate enough... More

We slept in the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in; better than our own! Real 5 star accommodation. Look no further if you need a B&B in Hampshire! However, you will not want to leave, so treat yourselves to more than one night.

Four of us (two couples) stayed for Saturday night, using Joan and Jack's friendly establishment as a base from which to complete the 21-mile Hangers Way. This walk starts in Alton (near to St. Mary's Hall) and runs down through Selbourne, Hawksley and Petersfield to the Queen Elizabeth Country Park. On Saturday morning we left one car with Joan and... My friend and I stayed here for a night, and regretted not staying longer. Joan and Jack were absolutely lovely hosts… Joan helped us with directions to the Jane Austen Museum and gave us spot on recommendations for refreshments, plus helped us plan our visit to Highclere Castle the next day. St. Mary's is a beautiful, quiet converted church with... More
