Without wishing to sound too effusive, St Mary's Hall truly is one of the very best B&Bs you will find. We were warmly welcomed by Joan & Jack when we arrived. Our room (the Tower Room) was very comfortable; the bed exceptionally so. The en-suite bathroom was designed to a very high standard and the shower was particularly good. We... More

I can't recommend this place enough! Joan and Jack are very friendly, welcoming and accommodating hosts. From the minute arrived we felt like we were in our own home. The beds are extremely comfortable with lovely linen (we stayed in Knight) and the shower room was beautiful. The stain glass window near the shower means you start your day with... More

Just been back to St Mary's Hall again and found it just as good as ever. Joan & Jack were wonderful hosts as always. The rooms are spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. Breakfast is a treat, cereals, fresh fruit and full English, just a perfect start to the day. In summer the garden is a great place to sit and... More

A visit to Alton for a wedding. A very warm welcome greeted us from Joan & Jack a most hospitable and family couple. After a long tedious journey the cool beer and cup of tea was most welcome and were immediately at ease as we were treated like a member of the family. The ambiance of St Mary's Hall is... More

We stayed here 3rd July 2014 and I can highly recommend this lovely place. Attention to detail first class, beautifully clean with a very warm welcome and where nothing is too much trouble, if you, like me, want to stay in places where every effort is made to make you feel welcome and appreciated then this is the place. An... More

I've stayed in Alton at St Mary's before whilst visiting family and, once again, the stay was brilliant. You really could ask for more from Joan and Jack, from the acres of bed, amazing breakfast and even a beer to welcome me (much appreciated after cycling there from London). They also let me keep my bike in the garage which... More

I have been staying here annually for a number of years. This year was the first time my partner came with me. The rooms are immaculate, you have use of a conservatory with tv and dvd. Also use of the beautiful garden. Parking is right by the garden. The breakfast is just wonderful. My partner was very impressed found it... More

We stayed last night, it was a treat for my other halfs 40th birthday. Joan greeted us on arrival and made us feel very welcome. We stayed in the Garden Suite and it was fantastic!! We had all we needed to hand and loved the little finishing touches that made it feel like a home away from home. The bed... More

Stayed here while at a wedding in the area. Our room was ok but on the expensive side as we had no ensuite ( our bathroom was across the hall and there is an open seating area also off the hall). A lot of information available on local attractions. Woke in the night very thirsty and could not find complimentary... More

Joan and Jack run a marvelous B&B in Alton, in the center of Jane Austen country. This lovely converted church features first class accommodations (with wonderful showers, heated towel racks, free wifi and beautiful decorations). Breakfast was a treat -- eggs from down the street and locally caught and prepared smoked salmon (along with other local items). Joan's passion for... More
