Our family just returned from a 3 night stay with Joan and Jack at St. Mary's Hall. Joan and Jack are wonderful hosts and will take care of your every need. We live in New England and St. Mary's far outweighed any B&B we have visited. Breakfast was amazing. Eggs, smoked salmon, bacon, fruits, homemade jams, cereals and the list... More

We were walking the Pilgrim's Way from Winchester and stayed in 4 B&B's between Winchester and Guildford. This was the most expensive, but easily the best. An excellent welcome and very friendly chat from Joan, who gets the level just right. The room (I had the Tower Room) was really excellent - spacious, comfortable, excellent wi-fi, lovely shower room with... More

I have just returned from another lovely stay here. Joan and Jack are the ideal hosts. Nothing is too much trouble and you feel like one of the family. They are very knowledgeable about the local area and places to eat. Lovely quality accomodation and a great conservatory and garden. Stay here once and you will be hooked. The breakfast... More

Hosts were attentive and friendly as ever. It was a real home from home. I would thoroughly commend this place to anyone wanting a nice haven away from hustle and bustle. Well located near to pubs, restaurants and a nice collection of shops. An excellent base to visit the Alton Bus Rally and the Watercress Line preserved railway.

Just spent a fabulous few days staying at St Mary's Hall (my second stay) and could not have been happier. It's a beautiful property with character and quirks and a pretty garden, ideal for a relaxing stay. Great location, a comfortable, flat walk into Alton but nicely away from any noise from traffic or people! Also well situated for a... More

I was traveling about England (I live in NYC) for my birthday on a literary themed solo tour, and decided on St. Mary's Hall for my Jane Austen (Chawton cottage) leg of the tour. I didn't realize what a treat I was in for. Joan welcomed me warmly and actually set me up in a larger suite due to the... More

Really great bed and breakfast, beautifully presented and in a great location close to Alton town centre but also ideal for country walks. Joan was a great host, fabulous breakfast and made us feel very welcome. Will definitely be staying there again!

We were pleasantly surprised to find such a luxurious accommodation just outside the town centre. With a classic 1947 MG, secure parking overnight was a key requirement visiting Alton, and St Mary's Hall was just what we needed. Indeed, it was only a few minutes walk to the town centre, so, with excellent advice from Joan, we visited an charming... More

We really enjoyed staying at St Mary's Hall B&B. Joan and Jack really made us feel welcome. The Garden suite was excellent, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. A great nights sleep followed by a high quality Breakfast mad with local ingredients, we couldn't ask for more.

As the title says, a delightful B&B! Joan and Jack are very kind and helpful hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room - The Knights room is very tastefully decorated and my husband who is 6ft 4ins was extremely comfortable as the bed was huge! Breakfast was brilliant and there was a choice of cereal, fruit, full english and... More
