Thornbury Castle is a great experience if you are looking to stay in a real castle. It's a bit rustic but that adds to the atmosphere. We stayed in the Gate House which is a few hundred yards from the main castle. Probably not as well maintained as the main house but lots of room, a private parking spot and... More

This unique hotel has a few rooms that offer the quaint ambiance of Tudor sleeping with modern washroom facilities. The rooms are clean, well appointed with unbelievably quiet rooms thanks to 3 foot thick walls. The grounds are spacious and private with a church as a nearby neighbour. A truly special experience.

We stayed for a romantic week-end here and were so pleased to find the staff had upgraded our room because it was our wedding anniversary. We could not have been more happy with the room; lovely comfortable four poster bed, 'secret bathroom' reachable by turning a cross on a wooden panel, This was a lovely bolthole with picturesque gardens, steeped... We stayed one night as a special treat for our girls (16,14, 10). Was well over our normal budget but worth every penny (pound)! The rooms were super - we had to get two to accommodate us as at most hotels. Ours was the Dukes Robe Chamber - absolutely stunning! The girls room was simpler but very nice nonetheless. The... More

I booked this location for a work meeting - booking included about several rooms, conference room and private dining area. Booking made during early 2014. Feedback from all participants was excellent. Rooms were full of character. Meeting room was a stunning medieval Hall - fantastic. Food and service were excellent. Price excellent too. Will be back.

No complaints whatsever, I am only surprised this is not a 5* hotel!! Bed was comfy with white linens, clean room with historical furniture. Lovely and big bathroom too. Everything worked! Restaurant was amazing and so was the food! Do not forget to check out the lounge behing the reception, it has beautiful big windows.

We stayed in Lady Eleanor "chamber" :). It was gorgeous and bed comfortable. I lobed the traditional small tudor windows. There was good wifi signal too. Free coffee/tea making facilities. Dressing gowns and slippers + organic body wash & lotion were provided too. There's also room service. I loved the grounds, it was very traditional. Breakfast was AMAZING, they accommodated... More

We spent a fabulous weekend 15-17/8/14 in the Beaufort Room for our 20th wedding anniversary with our two sons aged 8 and 10. Having our own tower was more than we could gave hoped for, the sense of history emanating from each room in the hotel was fantastic - we could have gladly stayed forever. All the staff were so...
