My husband and I came away as a last minute break before the children broke up for school, and we're glad we did! Our room was cosy and well furnished and our breakfast was lovely. We ate in the dining room on our first night, I had the chilli and my husband had steak and ale pie, both were home... More

Stayed for one night in May whilst attending a party near by. In a very good central location... Not to far (by car) to many of the forests local amenities. Clean, basic rooms with tea and coffee making facilities. Old decor and styling in keeping with the pubs traditional feel. Over all a comfortable stay.

Hello Emma. Thank you for taking the time to review our inn and for your complimentary comments regarding our accommodation. Obviously we're disappointed that you only felt able to grade us as 'average', but we do appreciate the feedback. We are currently refurbishing all our bedrooms to give them a more contemporary feel and I very much hope that we... More

We thoroughly recommend this establishment, friendly greeting when we arrived and Michelle and Alan made us feel very welcome. Our room was clean and tidy and more than adequate for our short stay. The food was excellent. The evening meal menu caters for everyones needs with so much to choose from. The portions were more than ample and and served... More

I reviewed this pub after a stay a couple of years ago and gave it a glowing reference. I returned for another night away recently and while all was still very good - I cannot be quite so glowing about it. The welcome was a bit difficult as the pub was so busy, but the room was freezing and there... More

Many thanks for taking the time to review our inn. We're pleased that you found your accommodation 'clean and comfortable', but we must hold our hands up and admit that you were placed in the wrong room upon arrival. We were very busy at the time and there was some confusion; which explains the notice board and the heating being... More

Popped into the Fountain Inn for an evening meal - bit of a chance being a party of seven - and had a lovely evening. Extremely welcoming staff from the word go, they sorted out a table for us and took our order. The food was delicious, locally sourced, freshly cooked and well-presented, with our choices including Chicken Korma, Chilli,... More

Many thanks to Michelle and staff at the Fountain Inn for a great stay this weekend. Our group of six from Hastings shared the very reasonable lodge accommodation. Great breakfasts, lovely walks and well-kept ale, what more could we ask,(the weather was fantastic too).
