A superb family-friendly boutique hotel in the middle of the English countryside. Log fires, huge bathrooms, great food, it has everything for a weekend break with the kids. The Spa and Pool area is very relaxed and the gym has good, modern equipment. It's not cheap, but as a treat with the family, it's hard to find any faults.

We stayed two nights mid-week and got a best price package for a 'great' room (large bedroom and large bathroom with bath and shower) including breakfast. We chose what we wanted for breakfast and had it delivered to the room. Dinner in the restaurant was just as good food, although I preferred the bar menu (with classics such as fish... More

Exceptional grounds, the softest sheets, great mini bar with good wine and unusual snacks, super relaxing spa and treatments, trendy little shop, fabulous peace and quiet in serene surroundings, just perfect for a few days before Christmas.

I think this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The hotel, the pool, the grounds, food and especially the service by the incredibly friendly and genuinely obliging staff, made this a perfect winter break. The quirky layouts and non-standard fittings might not be to everyone's taste, but to me it was a fleshing change from... More

Stayed here for a post Christmas birthday treat. We had a "Great Room" which was great, spacious with all the trappings and touches you would expect and more. The main building is a classic country house to hotel conversation with a contemporary/retro décor and furnishings lots of low leatherette swivel chairs in the bar, 70's light fittings, surrealist animal mountings... I'm afraid to say this hotel has become tired and complacent. I first went over 10 years ago when it was the one of the early hip country hotels. It still has a beautiful setting and a lot of potential but now it has been superseded by newer hotels with better attitudes to service and looking after their guests. The... More

We were due to stay for 2 nights but found our 3 storey room so utterly claustrophobic that we left after one night. We were offered - and accepted - a complimentary newspaper, but it never came. We couldn't get wifi in our room. You'd think they'd ensure good coverage throughout. The grounds are beautiful but the hotel itself is... More

This is a review I didn’t want to write. I have been to Cowley now three times, I even got married there 18 months ago, each time they have been excellent in most areas, but they get let down every time by service 'blips'. The first two times, I wanted to believe that it was just bad luck on my... More

Our family live in London, Bristol and Gloucester and we like to meet up to have a lunch and exchange Christmas presents. This year our organiser chose Cowley Manor, and this proved to be an excellent choice. We had a private room which was perfect for our family of thirteen. Our pre-booked meal was enjoyed by everyone, with plenty of... More

The hotel has a lovely relaxed atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff. It's worth a visit for the pool and grounds alone. We had a room - or should I say rooms as they are on three levels - in the stable block. A cute idea but actually in reality a bit of a pain having to run up and down... More
