This is another pub which has featured in my life to quite an extent. My parents used to dine there quite a bit in its heyday. I love Clearwell so took my family along for an intended Afternoon Tea which is advertised on the board outside. Sadly, on entering the rather shabby interior, we were told that a proper cakes... This was our second visit in as many years to The Wyndham. I was pleased to note that all the positive things I noted in my review last year were still there this time. Very welcoming old hotel and pub in the Forest of Dean. Staff were again really friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean, well maintained and cosy.... More

We were very late arriving due to terrible traffic but warmly welcomed and still able to have dinner. We had the most amazing food, the best I have ever had in a hotel. We normally find different places to eat out when on hol but decided to stay with the hotel as this chef (Chris) is an artist. The room... More

We stayed here while attending a wedding at clearwell castle. It was really handy for it as we were able to walk to / from the castle. We stayed in the annex (room 31) the rooms were large but very dated and shabby. It seems they are able to attract plenty of customers going to weddings and so have no... More

We were travellling through and stopped in here for a meal, we were not disappointed, service was quick and effiecient, and the meal was tasty and genorous. The bar was full of olde worlde charm. I can't comment on the accomodation as we then drove on to our accomodation.

We booked last minute through Laterooms.com. We were supposed to be staying in the new annex, but were informed on arrival that we'd been 'upgraded' to a four poster room in the main building. The main building is in dire need of some TLC. It really could be so nice, but is pretty shabby at present. Our room had no... More

I stayed here for three nights back in April with my dog, Winston. This time we stayed for two and brought my wife as well. What a comfortable place this is! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would recommend it to anyone. The new chef is excellent, the menu is imaginative and the food tasty. The bedroom was comfy and, as... More

We were staying at a B&B in the village and came here for a pub meal. The food was pretty average pub fare but could have been a lot tastier. We were disappointed more by the service however. There appeared to only be a haphazard bar manager and another manager behind the bar!! And only one waitress. And they all... More

I booked this trip as a getaway, and then looked at the Trip Advisor reviews.....! Given the range of ratings, we were expecting a polarising experience and I can see how others would love or loath this place in equal numbers. We arrived a bit later than planned - and phoned in advance to warn them given the experiences others... More
