well where do I start this place is a disgrace ,well room 566 is as when we turned the shower on it flooded the bathroom then after soaking up the water with towels I noticed the state of the bathroom well it looked like it hadn`t been cleaned or seen bleach in about 10 years and they had the cheek... ...an American movie...think dodgy motel. Maybe that is being a bit harsh in some senses; I'd like to clarify that all of the staff are really kind and super professional (hence the two stars; really there should be no stars). It's just a shame that this dilapidated hotel hasn't been updated. Ever. Or just knocked down. The only positive about... More

The room was old, dated and felt like you were staying somewhere on a school trip. The receptionist struggled to be polite and use manners. I have no idea where the spa part comes into it but I didn't see anything of this nature. I wouldn't even bother considering this as an option to stay

Positives - The staff were without exception very pleasant and the breakfast was edible. Negatives - The room was tiny and absolutely roasting hot. You can only open the back window about an inch, and the front window was screwed shut. All in all it is horrendously overpriced - a 'Spa' this is not.

Stayed here due to work commitments, it reminded me of the hotel Alan Partridge stayed in. I was bitten numerous times in the room. I've no idea what they where from but still. The shower is terrible. I had no hot water for the first two days. The food is also terrible. Tasted microwaved and was expensive to boot. However... More

This hotel is awful. If you want enough milk for your tea at breakfast, it'd be quicker to dart across the A12 and milk a cow yourself rather than ask the waitress. You can fall asleep to the dronal sound of trucks rattling by your window. If you can't remember your room number ( in our case 116), you can... More

Have you ever been to a place that seems to have stopped at a certain point in history, the Rivenhall is steeped in early 80s interior design. Sipping a cool drink on a red and black leather chair I felt like I was on the set of 'Ashes to Ashes' and any moment DCI Gene Hunt would saunter in and... More

Everything looks tired, bar food very average and overpriced £9.95 for a jacket and Chillie, no Chillie in the Chille (not even red kidney beans or onion), a portion of catering soggy onion rings £3.95! Room comfortable enough but don't look too closely at the decor. We did use the pool etc which just about got me to award a... More

After reading some of the horror reviews, I was a little apprehensive about staying here. However, I found the hotel to be clean, comfortable and the service was excellent. I stayed here for business and we used the conference facilities, which were lovely. The food was very good. The rooms are a little basic, but for the price I thought... More

Staff were friendly on arrival and prior to this had changed room at my request. Rooms that aren't part of the main hotel are motel style and very small and dated. Rooms at the front are very close to the A12 and therefore rather noisy, however beds were comfortable. The pool, Jacuzzi and sauna (no steam room) were good but... More
