Stayed here for 2 nights with my partner while working in Thorpe Bay. From booking to check in to room service and check out, the customer service was outstanding. The rooms were very clean with modest timber furnishings and comfortable bedding. Not a bad word could be said of my short stay here, highly recommended.

We stayed here 4th October 2014 for two nights. As we were travelling from the West Midlands on a Friday evening we did not think we would be in time for dinner. However, I phoned ahead and was told that although the last meal meal was 9.30 we were more than welcome to dine. Once we had booked in at... More

We would like to give a higher rating to this hotel due to the fact that it is run by a very friendly family who provide an exceptional service. The hotel is in a lovely quiet sea front position. The family and staff are charming and welcoming. However............We stayed at the Camelia for 3 nights over Christmas using it as... More

Thank you for the kind opening comments in your review. We are sorry however, that you were not entirely happy with your stay at the Camelia over the Christmas period. An error was made by our housekeeper in setting up the room for one guest only, for which we apologise; but this was rectified as soon as we were made... More

A very pleasant stay. The hotel is well appointed with WIFI, Flat screen TVs and comfy beds. The staff are friendly and helpful. Some rooms have a good view over the bay. It is about a mile to walk to the centre of Southend.

First class restaurant hidden away in this 3 star hotel they certainly have a good chef the food was excellent. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Have eaten many times before but not reviewed before. This place is well worth a visit for that special occasion. Thanks for a great meal and stay.

I ate here last week as a friend of mine was staying in their apartment whilst her flat was being renovated. The food was delicious, I had fillet of cod in a sauce and it was one of the best sauces I think I have ever had with fish. The service as a little slow but this was because all... More

Easy to find hotel with a car park at the rear. We arrived at 11am despite check in being 2pm we were given a room immediately. The room was out the back, it was basic but nice enough. It had a new bathroom which was very good. It had a tv, tea/coffee etc so was perfect for what we needed.... More

I have used the Camelia previously and have used it again twice in the past month. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and attentive. Was upgraded to a suite on my last visit, which was more like a one bedroom flat. It was simply brilliant with a good seaside view. The breakfast is cooked fresh which... More
