I have to start by saying this is sadly a very mixed review. I do a lot of reviews on here because I do think it's important to get honest opinions of places. I wish that this review could have had a better score, sadly, I just can't give it higher. Let's start with the good points. This hotel is... More

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights last week it was a last minute thing. The staff were very helpful and polite and the hotel and room very clean and welcoming. The only criticism I have is that I really do feel that the food in the restaurant is over priced. Food nice enough but I felt too expensive... More

My partner and I have just returned from a night at the Camelia hotel. We opted for the room, dinner and breakfast package for one night. There is a large car park to the rear of the hotel which was free to use if staying at the hotel which was a great start to our break away. From our initial... More

The staff were first class, the room was spotless, the en-suite bathroom glistened. Thorpe Bay is a wonderful area, the hotel is on the promenade, and has a large free car park to the rear. The hotel is only a fifteen minute walk to the main pedestrianized shopping areas in Southend. The food was excellent and I can't think of... More

Stayed here on separate occasions recently whilst away working, it's a small hotel , more like a B &B to be honest . First room in the annex was large and comfortable and also quiet for sleeping during the day as I was working night shifts . The only problem was trying to adjust the hot water for the bathroom... We are pleased that our boutique style has been recognised. This enables us to provide a very personal service which is appreciated by business and holiday visitors alike, and to immediately deal with any reported issues. Because all of our food is freshly cooked to individual orders, this may sometimes add to the preparation time at peak period. We hope... More

Stayed for a few nights in the summer August 2015. Good location but actually overpriced for what we got. We had a family room, stayed with my mother (81) and my son age 11. I'd asked for a ground floor room as my elderly mum is not great with stairs, sadly none available. We were in the annexe part of... More

Thank you for taking the time to post a review for your stay with us back in the summer of last year. Unfortunately, due to the busy peak season and the relatively late booking, we were unable to provide a ground floor room for you on this occasion all having been previously assigned specifically to other guests. As a 3-star... More

My family and I had lunch at the Camelia this year and I would like to thank them for a fantastic day. The food was excellent and plenty of it. The staff were brilliant also and I never felt that we were being rushed and they were discreet but attentive at the same time. I would most definitely return to... More
