I recently stayed here overnight. The owners ( who I believe are new) were very friendly and welcoming. The room was a nice size, clean and comfortable. There were areas that possibly need a little tlc (bathroom door would not shut properly and en-suite shower doors coming off runners) but it suited what we wanted after a night out. The breakfast... Several years ago I was living in Southend for work and was lucky enough to call the Waverley my home. I had a superior room that, while looking out the back of the building and not providing the prettiest of views, was quite comfortable and had all of the amenities I could have needed. Coffee and tea service and an... More

We stayed here just for one night after a friends birthday party. Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely and lively owner, so very welcome. We were coming back later but she gave us our key anyway. We were right at the top, and had a room that looked over the back garden. It was a nice size, and... More

I stayed at The Waverley Guest house for 2 nights and loved every moment of it. I stayed in the double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and it was very clean and tidy. The family owned guest house is somewhere that my partner and I will be returning to. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and I cannot fault it.... More

If your in Southend this place is a must. The staff was amazing very helpful went out there way for me. The room was very clean and tidy like no one else had been in it. I felt at home very comfortable. I was suppose to stay one night but ended up staying a week. Breakfast was plenty of choice.... More

Spent 1 night at the Waverley on bank holiday Monday. Location was ideal with free parking right outside the guesthouse. Owners greeted me with a warm reception and were very accommodating. Room was ideal for me and my young son and the shower was lovely and powerful. Lots of cereal on offer for kids and the bacon sandwich was lovely... More

Our experience at the Waverley was so bad we left without even spending the night there. We paid £80 for a superior room, but were deeply dissapointed with pretty much everything about the guest house. The worst culprit was the shared bathroom - there was excrement lining the toilet, moldy spots in the shower, and the facilities were low standard... More

This gentlemen forgets to mention that he booked a shared bathroom. the bathroom is only used by two rooms not 4 or 5. He didn't even stay in the room so to say the mattress was uncomfy and cheap is petty. He was asked before he left if everything was ok and he replied yes my wife was ill due... More

We spent 2 nights at the waverley during our little holiday to southend. We had a ground floor double room with ensuite shower and sea view, with space to put up travel cot for our 13 month old. Room was fine, with everything we needed, clean and tidy, comfy bed. Bathroom fine, again clean and neat. Breakfast was lovely -... More

Found this place by chance, stayed here on business but will definitely go back with my family, lovely location, a breakfast that sets you up for the day & owners that couldn't have been more helpful. Lucky enough to get a room with a sea view which made me feel like I was on holiday!
