Travelling on the ferry from Harwich? Booked on the early sailing? Need a place nearby to stay overnight after a long journey? Look no further than here! A charming and beautifully kept homely B&B with friendly, personal service just a short drive from the ferry terminal. A shame that we had to leave so early and had so little time... More

Just returned from a business trip to this hotel - can't recommend it highly enough. Penny, the hostess, was excellent, the views are just stunning and the level of service and attention to detail was brilliant!!!

An absolutely wonderful house in a gorgeous setting with lots of artwork displayed. The hostess, Penny, is a very interesting lady and most welcomong. Beautiful views all round - we had a lovely en-suite room with river view and we were welcome to make ourselves at home around the house and grounds. It was a pity that we were only... More

I wanted to find a restful corner of England and was very lucky to find this place. I had a terrific welcome from Lucy and Patrick and was made to feel completely at home, offered tea and generally well hosted. Later, our hostess Penny introduced herself and made sure that I had sufficient information to go out for dinner, The... More

I stayed here for one night in conjunction with work and wished I could be there longer on holiday! The double room (ensuite) I had was lovely - spacious, well furnished, yet homely with lots of personality; a welcome change from the stark, characterless lodgings you get from chain hotels. It had lovely views onto the gardens and across the... More

We stayed here for four days in June and it was a bit of a disappointment. First the positive points. The landlady was very nice and helpful and, for instance, arranged a lift to a very good restaurant in Mistley that she had recommended (The Mistley Thorn). While we were waiting for the car that would pick us up she... More

We have just spent a very comfortable night at Emsworth House. It had a very friendly atmosphere and we had a most enjoyable breakfast. Our room was large and comfortable with fantastic views. It would have been nice to have had a hairdryer in the room. My only complaint was that we were charged £16 for our two little dogs,... More

We booked quite late but luckily there had been a cancellation so we lucked in and managed to get a room with a superb view over the estuary. A short walk down a track and along the coastal path revealled some lovely beach flora and fauna. Penny our hostess and her grandaughter Millie looked after us and were very helpful... More

This was our first visit to Emsworth House and we were met by Penny who made us welcome from the start. The Accomodation was perfect and very comfortable esprcially as the weather was very cold but the room was warm and inviting. Breakfast was very good with everthing we needed. Hope we shall be able to visit again in the... More

We were going to visit friends in the area and needed somewhere that was dog friendly as we were taking out young dog with us. We trawled the internet looking for accommodation with no joy, then stumbled across Emsworth House. Penny was a fantastic host, who only had 2 stipulations if taking a dog... they are not allowed on the... More
