We booked this hotel in order to visit the Imperial War Museum at Duxford and it proved to be a convenient choice from that point. The other thing in its favour was that the website stated that it had an award winning restaurant. In the past we have often found it difficult to find somewhere to eat in the evening,... More

A very comfortable hotel not far from Saffron Waldon and near to IWM (RAF) Duxford). Food Good with well stocked bar. Bed comfortable furniture in bedroom in keeping with the hotel, but needed a facelift in general. The conservatory floor was uneven. could do with resurfacing!

Arrived Sat 2nd August in late afternoon and checkied in and allocated room 1 in adjoining building. Immediately found room with un-hovered floor and went to reception to ask for new room. Told none availabe but receptionsist would clean that evening when I was out. On retrun found bathroom facility to be completely unusable due to staining (guess) on toilet... More

We are very sorry that you had the experience that you had. It should not have happened. We do not use this room, in fact it is to be completely refurbished. We had booked you into another of our rooms, unfortunately we had to put your original room out of service. Our housekeeping team, who do a sterling job did... More

My partner and I stayed one night B&B whilst at a family function in Saffron Walden. The hotel is in a quiet, pretty village only a 10 minute drive/taxi ride from the centre of Saffron Walden. The building is a really charming old coaching hotel with great character inside and out. There is ample parking - a big advantage over... More

Stayed over on a saturday night. Food and bar quite acceptable, lovely gardens, ample parking and easy access from M11. Only thing we thought let the place down was the temperature and decoration in the room. We were in a 4 poster which was quite comfortable but even with all the windows open it was extremely hot ( no air-con)... More

My husband and I were visiting relatives in BStE, having visited Cambridge, and the hotel was well positioned to get to both places. We arrived late Saturday pm with the priority of enjoying a drink in the garden. Unfortunately, although three staff were involved in providing the drinks, the service was very slow. But really the only moan, as the... More

We stayed here 2 nights attending a family wedding. Some members of the party stayed in the main house, with 4 poster beds! My husband and I stayed in the stable block (more modern) but bright, clean and the most enormous comfortable bed I have ever slept in away from home. Food served at the reception, and for breakfast was... More

Sorry the review is a bit late, but we had two rooms here for nearly two weeks in February . The rooms we stayed in were lovely and suited our needs, the beds were really comfy and the shower was a good temperature. The staff could not do enough to help and were all very friendly and chatty. The food... More

There are not a lot of hotels around Saffron Walden and this is conveniently placed. The room in the stable block was very pleasant if unexceptional but with a large very comfortable bed. Evening meals all table d'hote - my wife's duck was rather tough and both that and my coq au vin lacked flavour. Breakfast cooked to order, very... More

Stayed at the Crown House for a short weekend with my girlfriend, could not recommend a stay at this hotel anymore. Lovely room, great food and really helpful staff who upgraded us to a better room just because there was one available! Will definitely be staying here again in the future.
