Me and my friend would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a night out in Chelmsford! Friendly staff, lively pub downstairs, clean room and good price! Also in a perfect location a few minutes away from CTZN, evoke and massula night clubs! Shall definitely be returning

Our room felt like we were under a speaker and it didn't stop until 1am. All through the night we heard the hallway doors banging shut and floor creaking. We were unlucky to sleep next to young people having a party in their room at 4am with loud music. No consideration for anyone. No one at reception or no porter... More

We are a large party of 32, we stayed April 25 for 2 nights, first impressions from the outside it didn't look bad, but once you got inside and looked at our room we knew this was a mistake. There was four of us staying in room 1, there was a double bed a single and a put up bed... More

I had forgotten just how awful this hotel is. Previously (in about 1950) this hotel could have been called characterful. An America screenwriter might describe it as city centre quaint. It isnt now any of these things, it's just awful. Sultry staff (if you can find any), dirty and illequipped. My room is a large double - according to the... More

This hotel was awful. We were basically sleeping on the speakers. The carpet was disgusting and the shower looked like it was going to fall apart! The walls were very thin! The glass was single glazed so that did nothing for drowning out the music!! At no point were we warned about the music playing until 1AM!!

Met friends for lunch, I hadn't been there for a long time. Last time I thought it O.k but a bit dark. This time we sat by window which was much better. The big surprise was the food. I had the penne arrabiata with chicken which was very good, friends had salmon dishes and salad which were also good. I... More

Had lunch here today with my parents. The food was ok and service friendly but the bar restaurant is dark and much in need of a makeover, the decor is tired and grubby. The toilets were not the cleanest either. Would not return.

Stayed here for 2 nights, first impressions are good from the outside, City centre location and the bar area busy, but the rooms are such a disappointment, our room was big and fairly clean except the carpet, Door security was very poor, it could be just pushed open, sink blocked, TV out of the arc, the staff I found Okay... We booked a family room for 4 adults at a cost of £90 which is really reasonable for Chelmsford and loads cheaper than getting a taxi home. The hotel from the outside and up to reception looks lovely. That is where the magic ended. I am not moaning because it was only cheap and we were only using it as... More

I used room 4 for five nights, I was going to leave within 30 min of arrival! The receptionist had billed my full stay to my card as soon as I arrived and I couldn't find anyone who could do a refund! The room was a health risk dangerously wired appliances, broken radiator valve, shower, no non slip mat for the... More
