Stayed in the Lodge after our son's wedding reception in the barn. The reception was truely wonderful. The staff were attentive , couteous and efficient without being overbearing. Food was simply delicious. In the Lodge we had the Chestnut Suite on the ground floor. Other family members were in the other suites, bride and groom in the honeymoon suite. All... More

I was extremely impressed with Channels. The converted Essex barn is one of the most beautiful places to celebrate a wedding. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble, they helped make the day run very smoothly. Then at the end of a very long day, we went to our rooms, only to be impressed all over... After having my sister wedding in the main venue (beautiful converted barn) which alone provided excellent service for the whole reception and the staff did everything we asked. We had booked the lodge and all the rooms for the family and we couldn't fault them. All the rooms had everything you needed and more! Plenty of space and everything was... More

We stayed in the honeymoon suite (oak) after our wedding and could not have asked for a better place to stay! We booked all the rooms for our family and were really pleased with the quality and service we received! Highly recommend especially if attending a function at channels

A marvellous hotel ran by very friendly and accommodating staff. A beautiful, historic building with features like a roll top bath add that little bit of luxury to the stay. The surroundings are equally stunning especially on a glorious sunny day. Highly recommended.

I spent a week at the Channels Lodge in the Chestnut suite in the Tudor house and I was very impressed what a refreshing change from all the sterile normal hotel rooms I have stayed in, the bed was huge and comfy, large TV with sky channels, free WiFi, then up a couple of steps to the dressing room with... It was great to read all the nice things our guest had to say about us and to know that Channels Lodge had succeeded in adopting many of today's amenities while retaining much of its 15th century charm. Simon Larner More

I have been staying at Channels lodge on and off over the last couple of weeks and it has been ideal! Quite, relaxed, and comfortable but still only a short distance from a number of travel hubs. The folk that work here are always friendly and nothing really seems to be much of a problem. With places like this around... More

Me and my boyfriend stayed here in February for our anniversary. The moment we drove towards Channels Lodge we know we would have a lovely weekend. The setting is lovely and you feel a million miles away from busy town centres etc so it is ideal for an escapist weekend. We stayed in the Cedar room which was a great... More

It would be easy, reading such a favourable notice, to become complacent but at Channels we are determined that our guests enjoy a return visit as much as they did their first. I hope, therefore, that the writer of this review will take an early opportunity to put us to the test. Simon Larner More

Firstly... we booked this last minute and on a whim. No real reason why the location but we have looked for accommodation like this for a long time. Beams. Amazing bathroom - Descriptions don't do it justice. Attentive staff. Food wasn't fine dining but what you see is what you get and still tasty. Wine very reasonably priced

It is never easy to exceed expectations since one never knows what was expected in the first place so to read in this very kind review that we had managed to do so is a source of no small satisfaction to the whole Channels team. Somon Larner More

I booked three rooms for colleagues on a business trip via an online service. On the day we were due to arrive I got a call from Simon the manager explaining there had been a hitch with the booking - and they were unable to accommodate us. Simon then arranged good alternative accommodation at a nearby hotel and picked us... More

It is rare indeed for guests to show such magnanimity and in my experience quite unknown for them then to write a favourable review. I hope, therefore, that an early opportunity will arise enabling me to say thank you in person. Simon Larner More
