Booked this room from hotel website. The inviting pictures of this grade 2 listed building were appealing. The price was reasonable and everything looked promising. The problem was you didn't get what was on the tin.Access was directly off the main road right next to the bypass junction, great for logistics and travelling but noisy. The gravel carpark was annoyingly noisy too.At reception I... We had a small wedding reception at the Kilns and could not have asked for a better day. Every little detail and care was taken so that my wife and I along with our guests had a great wedding breakfast and a memorable day for years to come. We also spent the evening at the hotel and could not fault... More

My firend bought a groupon deal to have afternoon tea here for four of us and it was a reasonable price. Of course with these deals there is a time restriction but it worked well for all of us as we are fairly local. Before you are seated in the main restaurant for afternoon tea, you are invited to take... More

I stayed here with a few others for one night. Lovely area, lovely building. However, upon our return we found that nobody could get in their rooms because the keys didn't work. We rang the emergency number 33 times and nobody answered. After leaving messages and waiting around untill 1am we broke in to our rooms! 2 girls had to... More

My wife and I booked in for afternoon tea at Kilns after Marygreen Manor were fully booked. Overall, we really enjoyed it! The staff were excellent and we really couldn't fault the service. There were a good selection of tasty sandwiches of a reasonable quality. Followed by a delicious selection of cakes and scones. Afternoon Tea is in the dining... More

Went with a friend for afternoon tea - and what a pleasant experience it was! The service was great and the atmosphere in the restaurant was good. The cream tea and sandwiches was very tasty. Definitely worth a visit!

Stayed at The Kilns for one night whilst on business with a colleague. The first point to note is that the exterior of the premesis has been maintained to an excellent standard and the buildings look gorgeous from the outside with a decent sized car park, certainly giving a very 'top end' hotel feel. Check - in was quick and... More

My partner and I often travel for work,so see a fair few B&Bs and hotels; but The Kilns has topped the feel good factor for me. Quiet, comfortable room with excellent mattress, Good wi fi connection, but most importantly, the nicest staff. All were helpful, kind and jolly, they couldnt do enough for us. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Originally built Circa 16th century, The Kilns Hotel is a classical Grade II listed Queen Anne’s building having undergone many period changes over the years. A favorite with business travelers and people visiting friends or just Brentwood. The hotel retains much of its original charm and character. However, much of its period features have been lost over time but has now evolved into an extremely comfortable, modern and contemporary style petite hotel with an air of sophistication, rarely found outside central London.During your stay, you can experience our excellent food and selection of fine wines while dining at The White Napkin Restaurant and Bar (Essex Food & Drink Awards 2010/11 finalists) which can be used by our residents, and is open to non-residents. ... more   less
