Booked in for a week. left after three nights tried to get a better roomfrom day one. Room 6 is noisy, 1/2am taxis and talking. Half a window only to other rooms, told by staff it was the worst room in the hotel. Three cracks in toilet, under lid of toilet seat never been cleaned, black disgusting mould in corners... more

We stayed here after my daughter's wedding arriving about 10pm, spent half an hour at the desk with credit card details etc etc even though it had already been booked earlier, and then again in the morning another half hour doing the same thing we had done with the credit cards the evening before - just hope they havent charged... more

Dirty, dingy, dated worst hotel I have ever stayed at. On the first night we were in a family room which was frayed around the edges to say the least. The White Hart is centrally located in Braintree and it has a pleasant atmosphere. However on arriving in the late afternoon we found it impossible to have a warm/hot shower. The water was freezing and not much power in the shower. The bath tap was a little better, you could run a bath as the water was just warm enough.... more

I arrived sweaty and horrible from my flight from Spain to this hotel, walked in the door and was met by the manager and a bouncer at reception. Laughably bad. The only good thing about our stay here is that it gave us funny stories and helped us bond with our fellow guests (we stayed with a wedding party). Rooms are dingy, small, smell of damp and don't feel clean. Dinner was extremely expensive and mediocre. We're pretty accustomed to English hotels/B&Bs and this was really our worst... more

Having trouble booking accommodation near to the location of a family wedding, we plumped for The White Hart despite the previous reviews about their booking system. Frankly it wasn't marvelous - it took 3 attempts to get the booking right - but knowing there was a problem we were hot on following it up. That said, they were very helpful... more
