Everything was very lovely. The breakfast was very nice, and the room was extremely quiet. The drain was a bit blocked in the bath/shower, but everybody has those sorts of problems now and again. Others have talked about the getting back in time, but isn't the main reason we stay above a pub so that we don't have far to... More

This is a fantastic pub which has become so through the hard work and attention to détail from it's présent owners. Only one thing to grumble about if you want and that's the général portion size for fish and chips is wasteful.Way too big, unecessarily too big perhaps that's the size that the fish comes out of the box but... This is a delightful C16 pub restaurant which provides a very good atmosphere, good service and very good food. Would recommend. The menu should suit most people and is very varied with a good choice of starters, main course and desserts, there is even a children's menu.

As a local . I live 3 doors away . Where else to celebrate 5 decades than my local . Matthew and Gillian did me proud . It was a balmy summers evening when 90 guests descended and mixed seamlessly with locals . The food was superb. A traditional English buffet as I requested with joints of beef gammon and... More

We could not recommend this place more highly. My husband and I stayed here for a night during a cycle ride from Belgium to UK and really enjoyed our stay. We booked back in April through Travel Republic - a very hassle-free booking. We were staying on the Sunday night of the August Bank Holiday and didn't arrive until 9pm,... More

The c16th Old Vine is situated in a small village on the Kent/East Sussex Border and ideally suited as a base for visiting many nearby National trust properties. It is a perfect pub - warm welcome - old beams - log fire - good range of beers and wines - wide menu for both snacks and restaurant. Comfortable accommodation -... More

We spent five nights at The Old Vine and thoroughly enjoyed it. The rooms, which were redone in 2012, are immaculate. The hospitality couldn't be faulted either, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfasts were cooked to order and more than generous. We have no hesitation in recommending The Old Vine, and look forward to future visits. Thank you Gillian, Matthew... More

Four of us went to the Old Vine for lunch on a rainy Tuesday. We were pleasantly surprised to see so many patrons parked in the car park, which is surely a good sign of any establishment. The menu was full of pub classics, at very good prices. Portion sizes are very large, and the standards of the cooking is... More

A quick visit. Would love to have stayed for another night and if we are ever back in the area we certainly will. We felt welcome and comfortable. Our meal was very good. We enjoyed an early morning walk, lovely surroundings. I accidentally left a piece of jewellery of great sentimental value in the room. Thank you to Gillian and... More

I feel that I should add further clarification to this review. The family had made clear that they would be arriving late - which is why they were given a key. They were there shortly after midnight - not an excessive hour surely for a family party to end? None of the party were drunk. They had drunk responsibly having... More
