Took my elderly parents for a pre Christmas lunch. The new owners have done a really tasteful refurbishment and the place has a warm and friendly feeling. The food and service were all good. We had pre ordered our meal and all went smoothly. Just one little criticism. Some Christmassy music would have been a nice touch. It was only... More

We left it a little late to book a room for a one night Saturday stop over and came across the Old Vine Inn on LastRooms.com. What a pleasant surprise! Not expecting anything special - indeed feeling a little apprehensive at our choice - we pulled up at typical English inn. But not so typical inside. No gloomy , heavy... More

Booked 3 nights b n b, got the bed, but no breakfast, the place was deserted of staff, the property needs a complete refurbish, emailed my concerns and was totally ignored, never again, if your looking for a warm welcome in a country pub look elsewhere.

im local to this pub, and I don't drink there! It's horrible. New owners are rubbish. Yes there is a fire there, but does that make up for poor food, worst service ever and just a general bad feel? The atmosphere is dead, I'm not expecting a nightclub obviously, but it's bad in there.

Lovely old beamed inn with real fire. Room clean and warm and surprisingly quiet. Plenty of parking. Claimed free wi-fi but broadband was down both nights we stayed and only GPRS reception which was poor. Large room let down by minor broken fitting (shelf in bathroom, loo roll holder, couple of light bulbs). Breakfast had limited choice so alpen or... More

My wife and I recently stayed for one night at the Old Vine in Wadhurst, Sussex and we found it clean, quite, comfortable and warm. The staff were very friendly and helpful for our brief stay. We had a very pleasant evening meal, mine was liver and bacon on a bed of new potatoes and my wife had the fish... More

I had stated on my Booking.com booking that I would arrive about 9pm, unfortunately I arrived about 10pm due to traffic. I arrived to a dark pub with a staff member waiting for me. He stated that he was about to lock up and go after having tried to call me. He remarked my number was incorrect, however I have... More

Stayed here on business for one night. Very impressed with the warm welcome from the landlord, room was spacious with tea/coffee and freeview television, and tastefully furnished to reflect the period of the building - I got the impression they are still gradually making improvements to the rooms. I enjoyed an amazing (and enormous) plate of Fish and Chips downstairs... More

Dropped in for a bite at lunchtime and was really impressed. The young staff behind the bar were very friendly and efficient, the choice of ales all looked good, the pub itself is very pretty and there was plenty on the menu to chose from (I will definitely be returning to try the sharing platters at some point). We were... More
