We live locally and decided to visit The Bull Inn to celebrate my wife's birthday. My wife had tuna and both my son and I had ribs (as recommended by the waiter). When the food arrived my wife's tuna was great. The ribs that my son and I got were the cheapest fattest meat I have ever seen. The ribs... More

The sign out of the back of the pub states it's the oldest pub in Ticehurst, dating back to the 1300's. That is the oldest pub I have every seen !!!! Stopped for a couple of drinks on our way around the Bewl Water lake trail, so can't comment much further about food etc.

We had a wedding in Ticehurst so staying at the bull inn was great. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The service was wonderful - very friendly and we always there to help. We only stayed 1 night but had a really great stay. Thank you Archy!

For no particular reason we haven't visited this lovely pub for a few months. Thankfully we have put this right and had a really fun and enjoyable time last week (the tapas evening). The whole event was a delight with excellent service, very good tapas dishes washed down with Rioja (of course) and a fantastic atmosphere. It was obvious all... More

We booked into the b&b here by default because the one we were supposed to be having dinner in was full. What an ill wind that was. From booking to leaving the whole experience was faultless. We liked it so much we ended up eating here instead of the other pub. The staff were excellent, the food was lovely, and... More

What a difference since I last went to the Bull Inn. Service was welcoming, friendly and prompt. Food was absolutely delicious. I'm glad I gave it another go. Marvellous. A truly friendly and refined village pub. Bliss.

We visited The Bull last week as a last minute lunch outing with our family who are staying over from Argentina. With a large family group including children and two toddlers, the staff kindly reserved a large table in the dining room at short notice. The Menu choices were excellent with something for everyone, well organised and the food itself... More

Not sure how this pub has got such good overall ratings on TA. It's certainly pleasant enough and situated in a quiet country road just outside Ticehurst but its not unlike hundreds of other country pubs around the UK. interior is traditional with wooden tables and chairs dotted around the place and on two levels. Jazzy curtains and modern pictures... More

This pub restaurant is under relatively new ownership and we decided to visit it again on a colleagues recommendation after a long absence due to the previous ordinary management. Our experience was excellent in every way. The food was fantastic and the service very good despite the restaurant being full and there being only two waitresses who were very busy... More

This pub was always pretty good but it seems to be better than ever We stopped for lunch on the weekend.. I had the "Messy prawns" and she had .. I believe it was the smoked haddock in cream and cheese sauce. I've been to top restaurants where the food wasn't this good... Just fantastic. Very friendly staff, 2 roaring... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Bull Inn was built between 1385 and 1425 and is reputed to be one of the oldest dwelling places in the country, but only became a pub towards the end of the 19th century. Set in 4 acres of rolling Sussex countryside, and within easy walking distance of beautiful Bewl Water, the Bull is very popular with walkers, cyclists and fishermen. A magnificent ancient building in a secluded location, the Inn has a wealth of old beams, low ceilings and quarry tiled floors that give it a real air of the traditional English Country pub. ... more   less
