It is haunted as hell!!! Spooky place.....Like entering the Rocky Horror Show! But the owners have enchanted alternatives if you dare ask. We ended up 100% satisfied and went back(to the alternative). The only advice is forget breakfast and focus on a good pub for a great lunch.

I am from the US,but I am an Anglophile. In 2005 I was recovering from breast cancer, and uterine cancer, and all the nasty treatment, chemo, radiation etc, I wanted to go to England as my "making it" gift to myself, and my importantly stay in a castle of Henry vii. When we arrived it was nightfall, ans I was... More

A group of us did a Ghost Hunt for a friends birthday, hiring the whole place for the night. Waht amazes me is this place is advertised for B&B. Oh my god, no-one should even consider staying here for a stay. It is dirty, damp, awful and as for the breakfast - none of us even attempted to eat it.... More

Well at least it will be a brief review! I'd booked what I hoped would be a well deserved romantic break for my girlfriend and I through late-rooms. I rang a few hours before arrival but the phone just rang unanswered which was a little worrying and I half joked about it being deserted. When we arrived, in the pouring... More

Mean scruffy owner, filthy place, history highly suspect. The plus point is that it was so terrible, it continues to make a brilliantly funny subject of conversation.

I attended a wedding at the so called 'Castle' last year. I helped the bride to be the day before set up. Peter was unorganised and on previous visits wouldn't let us view all of the rooms, one being the ceremony room. On the day before the wedding we arranged to go down to set up. However when we got... We celebrated my daughters 30th birthday at the castle and all 16 of us had A brilliant night the medieval feast was great and the host was a typical eccentric but Lady Annabel was a great entertainer we all hired costumes there which made us all look the part and the castle was amazing built in 1480 and very authentic

We had a really lovely weekend, beautifully warm and so full of wonderful features all round the house, don't go if you are expecting room service and some horrible featureless hotel, but DO go if you love old historical buildings, set in private secluded and lovely grounds, massive log fire and a really kind and welcoming owner. Loads of hot... More

Really good stay in old Tudor mansion/castle, absolutely no mod cons but original bowed windows and oak stairs etc. Draughty in rooms so don't go if you need warmth but if you enjoy back to nature, historical places with scary unexplained occurances this is your place...I say no more but just trust in your sense of adventure and your nerve!
