The hotel is a lovely old building and the bar area was very nice. However, the good stuff ends there. When we turned up it took ages to book us into our rooms as the lady on the front desk could not use the system. We were given out keys but not explained anything about which doors they were for,... more

I have stayed here for 1 week. Good staff, good food, nice room. Nicely cooked full english breakfast with juice, cereal, fruits, toast, marmite, jam, marmalade, dried fruits, coffee, tea,. Nice patio to relax good bed to sleep. All for just £70? It's a bargain. Compare to ashdown park hotel i rather pay £70 instead £210, I have just re-booked... more

Stayed here several times before & everything was fine (although not exactly the Ritz). This visit made Faulty Towers look good. Booked online (through Booking.com) in April for two nights ... Reception disgustingly filthy, carpet frayed & black (although it looked as if it was once beige), couldn't find our reservation on the computer...manager (or handyman as he was dressed... more

What a shambles! Admittedly under new management but everything about this hotel is shoddy, particularly the Reception area where the carpet and decor are a disgrace. The staff appear to be unaware of how to talk to customers. For example at breakfast - no-one greeted us or offered to show us to our table or explained what was available. A... more

We stayed here for one night, the hotel is in a good location near to Heaver Castle, Ashdown forest and only about 30 mins from Eastbourne. The rooms were OK, but very dated and could do with a complete refit. Also the rooms were really hot, so should install some aircon units when or if they do the hotel up.... more

On a one night stopover I found this hotel more than value for money. I stayed in a spacious room accessible by an exterior staircase, with a neatly laid out courtyard beneath. It was qute stylish and bore no resemblance to dated motel style accommodation. The staff were helpful and friendly, the food was fine, although I do think the... more

We stayed at the Brambletye Hotel for 6 nights in mid-- December . Our rooms were clean and comfortable , although maybe not of the latest decor . This was more than compensated for in the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff. We also enjoyed the great English breakfast every morning . We would certainly stay at this hotel again... more

Decor straight out of the 1970's. I was given a room with frosted glass with the atmosphere of a prison cell. The best comment about the hotel came from a guest at the next table who said that his day job was to demolish buildings like this. Avoid at all costs unless you are really desperate. more

I am surprised at some of the other reviews, as we found this hotel perfectly OK for a one-night stopover. We chose it for the location as we were attending a wedding close-by. Our room was one of the ones up an outside staircase (but under cover) and was spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also a decent size... more

This is the ONLY hotel I have ever stayed at that I would DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND. Do not stay here under any circumstances. *We were told checkin was 12pm, we showed up at 12pm and were told it wasn't until 2pm and they would charge us an extra £10 for early checkin. *Our room was unmade. The bedsheets and towels... more
