Basically a pub with some bedrooms. These are comfortable, clean and quiet. Parking is a lottery when the pub is full and the nearest public car park (free) is about 800 yards away. Breakfast (included) is one of the most basic that we have met recently. At their lowest advertised price per night (£45) it is reasonable value.

Visited the Chequers Inn Forest Row this weekend for an overnight stay, with family. Including young children. First thing to be aware of is do not take view of Inn on face value. Looks very much a country situated Hotel....... Afraid not. On a main road. Other things to be aware of; 1) If small underground parking full. Tough make... More

Having booked to stay for the night of 27 June in April and been billed 'up front' I arrived armed with my credit card receipt. Thank goodness! Not only did the proprietor of 'Fawlty Towers' hotly deny that they ever billed up front he went on to deny all knowledge of the booking. Whilst this fiasco was unrolling he was... More

Instant warmth of welcoming staff and historic building. Finding this 500 year old inn was a delight and made our stay in Sussex. It's in a great village with everything you could need for a wonderful family vacation including walking/ bike trail, excellent community bike rental with all the haunts of Christopher Robbin nearby. Delicious homemade pizza and friendly bar.

I booked this hotel 6 weeks in advance. I confirmed the booking the day before I was due to arrive (after waiting a very long time for someone to answer the phone). When I arrived I was met at the door and taken into reception. This was grubby, dark and totally disorganised. I was then told that there wasn't in... More

We used the Chequers Inn Hotel as a bed and breakfast base to visit the South of England show at Ardingly. Upon arrival the receptionist was very helpful. We asked about parking and was told you can park out front even though there is a one hour restriction. Apparently there has not been a traffic warden around for years!!. The... More

Ok this is my first trip advisor review , I felt I had to start as I read reviews and base my decisions of where to stay on the reviews. I read the reviews on the chequers in the way down about 2 hours before We arrived and was worried! My husband had booked it not having done any research... More

Only stay in this hotel if you have a sense of humour.... I was greeted by the owner, Claudio, who had clearly been enjoying the produce from the bar... Having finally checked in, I was informed that the Chef was ill and that dinner would be limited to pizza or ciabatta... The next day, on returning from a day's seminar,... More

Dear Sir / Mme Please first except your apologies for the Kitchen not being open in the evening. We are currently in the process of employing a new Chef for our establishment and are re-directing customers to local establishments for supper if they require something other than our reduced menu for the time being. Secondly I would like to say... More

Stayed for one night, in room 32 which is in the "newer" part of the hotel. It is clean but It's very tired, bathrooms need gutting and refurbishment, furniture is tired and electric lamps etc are 70's and broken. It's part of a noisy pub with customers who like to stand in the car park outside the rooms for a... More

Nice ambiance in and outside of the bar situated in a lovely village 30 minutes from Gatwick. The bedrooms and bathrooms require updating but a comfortable stay and as the bedrooms are situated downstairs at the back of the pub it was lovely and quiet. Breakfast could have been better but quite sufficient considering the price. Would stay here again... More
