Wonderful staff, lovely food and interestingly stocked bar. The secret is the stunning, and I mean stunning, views over the south downs from the rooms. Make sure you get a south-facer and you will be thrilled. The garden is pretty and spectacular and the breakfast a lovely mix: fresh fruit and well-cooked traditional. Friendly locals too.

Enjoyed our one-night stay here. Thought motels were a thing of the past but this clearly not so. Nicely positioned in quiet locale of Burwash with a panoramic view of the countryside from our patio window. Sizeable room, comfortable bed with freshly laundered sheets and the plumbing worked fine. It’s not the luxury end of the market but no complaints... More

Went here with a friend who lives nearby, we just wanted a quick lunch as we were busy gardening. Service was quick and the food did was nice. Fish finger sandwich and wraps. Simple food but done nicely. The view from the garden is lovely looking over the rolling Sussex hills and the garden is very well looked after.

Like other reviews went to Bear on way back from Batemans National Trust property just down the road. Pub was very busy but the ordering and serving of food was very quick and efficient. As a Freehouse the beer was reasonably priced with a wide selection to choose from. Bar food was tasty, reasonably priced served very quickly considering busy... More

Rated for the pub facilities. We called for lunch after visiting the nearby National Trust property - Bateman's. The inn has the advantage of good parking, either in it's own car park or in the free village car park that adjoins - and what a pretty village Burwash is too. We both ordered fish pie that came with fresh veg... More

A room had been booked , about 2 months ago, to attend our Shoot dinner. This was an evening we were very much looking forward to as this was our first with the shoot. Expectations were high for a good time hence the decision to stay over. On arrival there was total confusion when we tried to check in. Our... More
