We stayed two nights here. The person who showed us to our room seemed a bit bored. The room was a decent size and was clean, but a little on the shabby side. The curtains to the patio doors were hanging off a bit from the rails, but I couldn't fix them because the hooks were missing. Also,we couldn't get... More

We stayed here as a party of 8 adults and 2 children. The surrounding views are lovely and the rooms were all clean and spacious. It was fun to stay in our individual motel rooms which are all named after characters from the Jungle Book. We ordered food and drinks from the bar and we were all very impressed with... More

Good place for an overnight stay! Room was pretty standard but had great views over the fields. Nice garden to sit in and enjoy drinks and bar food. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lack of mirrors in bedroom near a power point for ladies to 'fix' their hair!

What can I say. This place was a god send. We were planning on camping last Friday but the storms hit. We rang the hotel and they were able to book us in straight away. The beds were so comfortable. That was appreciated at that time. Fantastic people who made us feel very welcome. Would certainly recommend to my friends.

We stayed here for 2 nights for a wedding in the village and as a result all the rooms were occupied by our wedding party. The rooms are clean although fairly basic. I found the bed incredibly comfy and the room looked out onto beautiful views of Sussex. The motel rooms are next to the main pub and this is... More

We stayed for two nights, the accommodation is good, clean and comfortable, would have given this a score of five but for one point, the toilet seat in the bathroom could do with replacing as it's a bit worn, The view is stunning from the double rooms, would be nice if there had been garden furniture on the patio. Burwash is a lovely village with The Bear at the heart of it. We only stayed one night while visiting the area but found this place to be a very nice stopover. The room was very clean, as was the bathroom and the views from the room, over the Sussex Weald, were beautiful. We only had the "pub food" but... More

Not a bad place to stay, but the food is a bit iffy at times. Breakfasts excellent thanks to their (Italian?) chef, but at night the steak and ale pie virtually inedible (was somebody else on duty?) Two nights later the steak was very acceptable. Dizzy bar staff could do with a talking to, but the rooms are good, the... More

After a two and a half hour circular walk from the nearby public car park, we were in need of some refreshment so we called in for drinks, soup and sandwiches - plenty of choice, good quality food and drinks and friendly service - we look forwrd to calling in again the next time we are in the area.

Just back from my mum's 80th birthday party held at The Bear. I was a little trepidatious as I live abroad and couldn't visit before the big day but I can honestly say it was the most perfect evening. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The function room was fantastic with picture postcard views over... More
