We stayed for two nights, the accommodation is good, clean and comfortable, would have given this a score of five but for one point, the toilet seat in the bathroom could do with replacing as it's a bit worn, The view is stunning from the double rooms, would be nice if there had been garden furniture on the patio. Burwash is a lovely village with The Bear at the heart of it. We only stayed one night while visiting the area but found this place to be a very nice stopover. The room was very clean, as was the bathroom and the views from the room, over the Sussex Weald, were beautiful. We only had the "pub food" but... More

Not a bad place to stay, but the food is a bit iffy at times. Breakfasts excellent thanks to their (Italian?) chef, but at night the steak and ale pie virtually inedible (was somebody else on duty?) Two nights later the steak was very acceptable. Dizzy bar staff could do with a talking to, but the rooms are good, the... More

After a two and a half hour circular walk from the nearby public car park, we were in need of some refreshment so we called in for drinks, soup and sandwiches - plenty of choice, good quality food and drinks and friendly service - we look forwrd to calling in again the next time we are in the area.

Just back from my mum's 80th birthday party held at The Bear. I was a little trepidatious as I live abroad and couldn't visit before the big day but I can honestly say it was the most perfect evening. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The function room was fantastic with picture postcard views over... More

A good location from which to explore the Sussex countryside and the South coast (just 30 mins away). The pub has great beer, the restaurant food is really good and reasonably priced and (if you're staying in the Motel) breakfast is great. The rooms are just behind the pub and are effectively a terrace of chalet style apartments. The rooms... More

Had a fantastic meal here not so long ago, will defiantly be going back again in the near future! Food was gorgeous, good portion sizes! Service was fast and friendly. Would recommend anyone to go here! Didn't stay over night as only live half an hour away so cant comment on Bed and breakfast quality.

On arrival we were quickly booked in and directed to our room no 7. The central heating and hot water did not work correctly the following morning but this was quickly rectified by Kevin and we had no further problems The room was quite large with a four poster bed with excellent views over the valley. Food good and value... More

Superb views from rooms 5,6,7 and 8. Room comfortable and clean. Good food, beer and friendly staff. Excellent location for visiting Great Dexter Garden and Batemans - Rudyard Kiplings home. Lovely village location with easy access to beautiful countryside and further south to the coast.

Just returned from one night stay, we were checked in efficiently and shown to room. It was clean and tidy, and bed comfortable. Good and drinks reasonable prices. Staff friendly. A few improvements could be made but this would have to be reflected in price.
