My son & I stayed here for 1 night recently. Having read previous reviews I was pleasantly suprised. Our room overlooked the Abbey, was warm & comfortable. The decor could do with being refreshed but this in no way detracted from a positive stay and the room was clean and comfy and had everything we required. The shower had a... More

+ I stayed in the renovated rooms at the back of the hotel which were clean and quieter, though still heard lots of banging and shouting. Location opposite Battle Abbey big plus and close to the coast. Firm bed. Breakfast was ok. - Very noisy, thin walls. My parents stayed in a room at the front of the pub and... More

The room was clean and comfortable. The meal we had the night before was excellent. The breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious and plenty of choice. As it was the only room in Battle that I could book up at very short notice I have no complaints at all, I was grateful to get it and had the added bonus... More

Had a meal here Bank holiday. Service was quick & food reasonable, however little things disappoint. Small portions for the price, dirty glass & rather overpriced- Paid £26 for two basic meals (burger & chicken dish) and 2 drinks. (didn't stay at hotel)

Stay Xmas Eve and Xmas day night at the Abbey Hotel. Staff friendly enough on arrival. Poor service and poor room however. If looking for just a room ok but for that something a bit special forget staying here. No making of beds, replenishment of coffees and teas. Cold, tired and scruffy room. Very noisy from pub below and banging doors... More

I stayed here on a Saturday night while walking the 1066 Way from Pevensey to Rye. The "Hotel" is well located in the centre of town just by the Abbey and we received a warm welcome when we turned up wet and weary after a long days walking. If you have not stayed here before it might be better to... More

The room was dated with old fashioned lamp shades, dreary wallpaper, no shower. The room had cobwebs in all corners and a layer of dust lay around the edge of the carpet. The blinds on the roof lights didn't fit and were hanging off, the bed was lumpy, the carpet looked grubby and the bathroom was freezing! So cold a... More

Stayed at the Abbey Hotel for 5 nights in early September 2012 with my husband. The hotel is in a fabulous location right across the road from Battle Abbey and the views of the gatehouse are spectacular. We had room number one and waking up to see the gatehouse in the early morning sunshine is a sight to behold! However,... More

We stayed at The Abbey Hotel in Battle for 5 nights between 4th and 8th September 2012. We were staying in Battle in the lead up to our Wedding on the 7th, using it as a base for our Wedding in Rye, and reception at Bodiam Castle. We also chose Battle as it is a lovely town, our first date... More

Stayed here one night and found it satisfactory- would give it 3.5 stars if I could. Staff throughout were nice and helpful. Location is brilliant- opposite the Abbey entrance/Gatehouse and on the High St. The rooms are a bit dated and faded with old furniture and bathroom. The mattress in our room had seen better days- (probably in the 1980's)... More
