Situated opposite the entrance to the site of the "Battle of Hastings" this friendly hotel is ideal for refuelling before exploring the battle site. The food we had - cod & chips and stilton & bacon filled jacket potato - was cheap, good quality and speedily served. Although this was a Shepherd Neame premises Masterbrew and Spitfire were not available,... More

On way to Hastings pull up previous to the coast and relax at The Abbey Hotel at Battle. Wonderful atmosphere, beautiful English fare, very comfortable and clean rooms. A very pleasant recommendation from local folk, quite a surprise!

The staff were very pleasant and most helpful but that's about the only positive comment I could make. I stayed in a twin-bedded room which was run-down and in need of a thorough clean. One of the beds was right up against the radiator under the window (which would have been a problem in winter). There was no mattress protector,... More

My wife and I visited the Abbey Inn for a meal on a Thursday evening with two friends. We received a warm and friendly welcome from the Landlord and the the staff were very attentive and efficient. The general atmosphere of the place was pleasant, not crowded but with enough customers around to provide a little 'buzz'. We found a... More

My son & I stayed here for 1 night recently. Having read previous reviews I was pleasantly suprised. Our room overlooked the Abbey, was warm & comfortable. The decor could do with being refreshed but this in no way detracted from a positive stay and the room was clean and comfy and had everything we required. The shower had a... More

+ I stayed in the renovated rooms at the back of the hotel which were clean and quieter, though still heard lots of banging and shouting. Location opposite Battle Abbey big plus and close to the coast. Firm bed. Breakfast was ok. - Very noisy, thin walls. My parents stayed in a room at the front of the pub and... More

The room was clean and comfortable. The meal we had the night before was excellent. The breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious and plenty of choice. As it was the only room in Battle that I could book up at very short notice I have no complaints at all, I was grateful to get it and had the added bonus... More

Had a meal here Bank holiday. Service was quick & food reasonable, however little things disappoint. Small portions for the price, dirty glass & rather overpriced- Paid £26 for two basic meals (burger & chicken dish) and 2 drinks. (didn't stay at hotel)

Stay Xmas Eve and Xmas day night at the Abbey Hotel. Staff friendly enough on arrival. Poor service and poor room however. If looking for just a room ok but for that something a bit special forget staying here. No making of beds, replenishment of coffees and teas. Cold, tired and scruffy room. Very noisy from pub below and banging doors... More
