We stayed here in May 2013 in the attic room. The room was spacious and comfortable with an ensuite shower and bath. The bed was so comfortable it was like sleeping on a cloud. Mark and Edward were simply amazing. We had informed them about my husband's gluten sensitivity and they had arranged for a gluten free bread for him... More

I was just checking out the official website of this bed and breakfast, and it states that after four years running as a bed and breakfast, they are now closed. I guess someone else is now number one on Tripadvisor.

Our family had all three rooms for one evening in mid-June. From the moment we arrived, Mark made us feel most welcome, directing us to parking close by, hauling our bags to the rooms, offered us tea and cake, etc. Their home is beautiful, the rooms spotless, and the mattress in the attic room was like sleeping on a cloud...everything... It really is the top of my B&B top twenty. From the slice of walnut cake and cup of tea on arrival with the hosts, to the sumptuous bed, en-suite shower room, lounge, range of books, games and DVD's to the Battle bangers for breakfast; absolutely faultless. When we come back home to Battle this is where we will be... More

We stayed at this BB whilst doing the 1066 walk. Ed and Mark made us so welcome, it was a joy to come back to the comfort of their home, with freshly made hot cross buns waiting for us in the snug. The room was wonderful and quirky, a very sloping old floor, a roll top bath to sooth our... More

We took the adjoining twin and green rooms for ourselves and 2 small children when staying in Battle for a wedding. Our rooms, welcome and service were faultless. The cottage is very special - straight from the pages of Country Living, but with a personality and charm that (even if you have children with you) will set you instantly at ease... More

We have returned from a fabulous 2 night stay at this wonderful B&B. We trawled through all the reviews for local hotels and B&B's in this area and the reviews kept leading us back to 19 Upper Lake. They were not wrong, we were welcomed with tea and cake into the lovely snug where a great library was available. Our... More

I go regularly to the area on business and always look forward to staying with Mark and Ed. They are always very attentive and focused on their guest's comfort and welfare. The house is full of character and furnished tastefully. They have thought about everything from ground coffee, nice biscuits, fluffy towels and organic toiletries in the bedrooms plus an... More
