Stayed overnight and ate there on Thursday. V spacious rooms and comfortable beds. Fast, free WiFi. V quiet at night, but two noisy builders in next room got up early and banged about shouting to each other at 5.45. Beer ( Adnams plus lots of specialist beers) v good, service fast and friendly. The food is good but a tad... More

The bar and restaurant staff are not only genuinely friendly, interested and interesting; but they really know their food, wine and beers. The service is outstanding, gentle and good humoured. I've been countless times, in high summer when the place is heaving with people, and in deepest winter when snow has blocked the road out of the village. Sophie is... More

Unfriendly, slow service, poor food and they treat their staff like skivvies. Avoid at all costs. I wanted to leave without paying, in fact I wanted them to pay me. Here it seems that only the favoured rich and famous get served (get fawned over)

We went into this establishment after visiting the area from Leicestershire. On the outside the pub looks welcoming and quite exciting with its menu and excellent selection of beers and wines. We sat at a table when entering the bar area and before we could order our drinks we were approached by a member of staff in chefs whites who... More

We have been coming to this splendid pub for the New Year for many years now and this is the first time I have entered a review. It is really excellent. This year we booked 5 nights there and we could not fault it. Lovely food and drink, very comfortable rooms and friendly cheerful service. The surrounding area is a... More

We have stayed at The Anchor for a long weekend, in one of the Garden Rooms. We really enjoyed the food served in the restaurant, the staff was always friendly, altough during busy dinner time we felt a bit 'forgotten' at the table, when nobody was bringing us the ordered drinks. The rented Garden Room was a great disappointment. The... More

We have never been to the East Coast of Suffolk although my father was from Norfolk and we had many happy holidays in Wells-next-the-Sea. If you wish for a quiet holiday by the sea in a place where not much happens, then Walberswick is perfect. There is a certain quiet melancholy about the low-lying east coast and its sea marshes.... We had a night away at The Anchor in Walberswick to celebrate my husband's birthday, and it was just perfect. We had a really warm welcome from the owners, and all of the staff made us feel very at home. The bar and restaurant both were very cosy, with lovely wine, good ales and amazing food. We stayed in a... More

For the third November Birthday in a row we travelled to Suffolk, largely to dine at this amazing restaurant! Everything about this place is outstanding, supremely polite and helpful staff, wonderful surroundings and atmosphere, magnificent beer... and food to die for! The menu choice is varied and enticing, presentation consistently top-notch, and the taste tops it all. Out of interest... More
