Following a superb dinner a few weeks ago, my wife and I dropped in for lunch today. After waiting about half an hour for our food we were told that the order had been 'lost in the system' but had been bumped up the queue as a result. My wife's food was fine, but my Ploughman's was very poor. A... More

What a find! Someone in the party urgently needed the loo and as the car shuddered to a halt in the car park and the distressed damsel fled into the Ladies we realized we'd discovered a gem. Only later did we learn that it was mentioned on BBC Radio 4's Saturday show (Rev Richard Cole!) The beautiful people who flock... More

Went to The Anchor as a birthday treat. Was greeted by a young man who was very friendly. The layout was fresh, although the chair seats were grubby. A young girl came and took our drinks order, which took ages to come through. In fact, the young man had come over and asked if our drink order had been taken.... More

After walking from Southwold with the children specially for lunch on Saturday 8th we arrived hungry and thirsty. As there was a beer festival going on it was busy but we soon found a table at the front. Our table hadn't been cleared so we piled the plates up on the side. We asked the people at the table next... We didn't stay but called in for a drink and bite to eat on our way home from the beach as they had a beer festival going on. Considering they were coming to the end of a long and busy day the staff were fantastically helpful and friendly, even moving a table around so we could catch the last of... More

After my dismal first visit The Anchor has delivered a better level of service and food each time I visit and as the review title infers this visit, which included my children, had a great meal and received great service. The great service was in part attributable to an Eastern European (I presume) lady named maria who was attentive, engaging... More

Walberswick is a small village with a glorious stretch of seashore. The Anchor is a gastro pub with rooms. The rooms are adequate and clean, our room was on the small side and could have done with a second chair but there would not have been room! Our bathroom was small but adequate. The "summer staff" who are probably undergraduates... More

We've been to this place often, and whilst it can get very busy service hasn't been affected too much. However we visited on the evening of 29th July and the poor service we received sadly overshadowed our experience here. We were shown to our tables by a harassed looking waiter who neglected to give us menu's to look at, it... More

We stayed at the Anchor last night. Great place to stay. Very comfortable bed, clean and with lots of facilities like Wi Fi and so on. Fantastic views. They have a wonderful selection of wines and beers. We had had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. Lovely food, delicious bread, friendly staff. We would go back and stay again.
