love this place, have been coming here for years. laid back and chilled out. food is really good, especially the mushy peas! Its really nice here on the weekends too, as there is always a cosy and bustling atmosphere that you can sit amongst for hours! full of families, locals and visitors too, the bell really is suitable for all.... Our previous experience of pubs with rooms has not always been that great, but The Bell at Walberswick was certainly not a disappointment. This pub is full of character serves good food and decent selection of local ales, cider and even local whisky! Our room was well furnished and extremely comfortable with no noise spreading from the bar area. My... More

Our family group, 3 generations, 9 adults and 3 children just fitted into the darts room and we had a very enjoyable evening. We arrived at 5.30 as we were told the pub would be busy on the evening before New Years Eve, in order to be served promptly at six or just after. The staff were excellent, the meals... More

We've been to this charming little pub several times in the last year for food after a bracing walk. It has never failed to satisfy. As well as being very welcoming to our doggies, providing 3 choices of bowl size, the food is simply perfect every time, the wine choices are good and the staff are very friendly. Well worth... We stopped here for lunch on Christmas Eve with our two dogs and although it was busy, we got seated and served quickly. The pub is full off nooks and crannies and has a great atmosphere - we had lunch in the 'darts room' - a perfect little side room for us to tuck ourselves away with the dogs. The... More

We took a long walk from Southwold for lunch with The Bell as our destination on recommendations from previous visitors to our holiday cottage. We were not disappointed. A beautiful, charming pub that appears to have stood against the tide of fake quaintness so pervasive in pubs today. They dealt with both the larger-than-average family we are and the Family... Stayed nearby & walked over for an evening meal. Quite busy with diners & drinkers, a pleasant buzz of conversation. Ordered food which was pretty good although let down by not enough thought going into accompaniments eg from the specials board I had smoked haddock with chorizo & rarebit topping served with mashed potato and.......salad. Salad & mash is not... More

Reviewed The Bell a couple of years ago and nothing much has changed, although prices remain a little on the high side - you're paying for the location. Visited the pub with our 2 dogs everyday whilst staying for a week at a cottage in the village. Found the staff really welcoming and the beer and food were good -... More

Big skies, stunning sunsets, salt-laden air, perfect smoked haddock for breakfast, delightful village, walk into Southwold, crabbing at the harbour, sharp shower, back to the Bell Inn, 90p ferry, warm welcome, Adnams' ales, Mediterranean fish stew, cheese platter, great staff, reasonable prices, log fire, friendly locals, pint of Ghost Ship, warm room, great shower, coffee, comfy bed, Zzzzzzzzzzzzz. Lovely Saturday night meal here on the August bank holiday weekend, with lamb that flaked off the bone and duck that was incredibly tender. There were good Adnams beers and the prices were really reasonable too. The only downside was that it was packed (obviously not the fault of the staff) so we were glad we booked a table. Highly...
