This hotel is really a 3 1/2 star rating. We stayed for 2 nights in June. The hotel and room were clean, but our room a little dark and in need of a lick of paint. There were no curtains/blinds in the bathroom other than some thin netting and our room looked out over a main road. We weren't given... more

The Blyth would be heaving if it had a sea view, it is on the junction of the main road into Southwold and suffers as such. However the place is very well presented elgantly and interestingly decorated and the staff are well trained and helpful. We entertained some guests for dinner one night and the food and ambience were excellent.... more

I recently spent 3 nights at the Blyth Hotel with my sister in two separate rooms. My sister had booked the Aldburgh Suite and I a standard double though the hotel kindly upgraded me to a king room at no additional cost. This hotel is a boutique hotel run by a husband and wife and a team of extremely friendly,... more

Having reviewed this hotel recently on behalf of my dad, I was keen to spend a weekend here with my husband. If I was scoring the hotel on the friendliness of the service and the quality of the evening meals, then the Blyth would definitely have scored top marks -- the staff and the food were exceptional. Unfortunately, however, a... more

This hotel seems to be living on its past reputation. The current emphasis seems to be on making as much money as possible, rather than on providing service. The room was small and in need of substantial investment. Breakfast was poor. No muesli, melon only as fruit, poached egg that tasted of vinegar, dried bread masquerading as toast on which... more

On arriving the first thing we noticed was a charming Victorian building and a genuine, relaxing atmosphere at reception. When we got to our room we noticed lovley Laura Ashley furnishings, although an old building, well kept and clean rooms with original features. Food in the restaurant was divine, service was exceptional, nothing was too much trouble. I can reccomend... more

We just stayed at the Blyth for one night over the Easter Break. Overall, I guess that I was expecting much better for the not-so-cheap £140 per night. It is a nice establishment, but certainly for the price range I was disappointed. First the good points: - Breakfast was excellent - Quiet - Nice clientele - Kind and helpful staff... more

The Blyth Hotel was an exellent choice for us. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated. The staff very very friendly and helpful. But the food is the jewel of this restaurant. It is very good. Sothwold little high street is just outside and we had planned to go out to eat but had every meal in the hotel. They... more

We were only there for a few nights, but the staff were friendly and the rooms were great. We stayed in two of them! The southwold suite was very nice. Breakfast was very good as was the food in general. Perfect for what we wanted which was a quiet get away. more

Spent a night here on the recommendation of tripadvisor. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. Upgraded to a suite, huge room, comfortable bed, great night's sleep. Wonderful to visit a hotel where the words 'I am a vegetarian' was met with the reply 'no trouble' - and my mushrooms on toast were exquisite. Would certainly... more
