The hotel is a charmer very welcoming and warm. The staff are absolutely brilliant and really go all the way to making the stay spot on. We arrived on... more

We've just returned from spending our Christmas at the Blyth in Southwold. What a fabulous few days we've had. We feel like we've eaten and drank like kings and our doggy has thoroughly enjoyed himself too. This is our second visit to the Blyth and I'm sure we'll be back. For any dog owners, this is a lovely doggy-friendly hotel... more

Deserving of a relaxing break at half term, we opted for The Blyth on offer at £100 per night for a suite including breakfast. Suite is rather misleading as this was simply a reasonably large room with period furnishings and fittings. The spacious en-suite with a proper window, a luxury these days, featured one of the most powerful showers I... more

Having just returned from a weekend in fabulous Southwold we found it hard to review the blyth hotel without without mentioning the tiny room(room 1) the infrequent hot/cold water from the taps and the non power shower. We mentioned in passing the size of the room to the lady from housekeeping and she laughed and said"yes it is small isn't it".We... more

A last minute decision, we managed to find what was possibly the last room available in Southwold during the Literary Festival weekend. We were greeted by very enthusiastic and friendly staff (especially Sam). Room 9 (2nd floor, no lift) was comfortable, spacious and well appointed. The hotel is only a five minute walk from the High Street (the hub of... more

Just back from the Blyth where we enjoyed 2 nights. It is a very comfortable hotel tastefully decorated with a slightly upmarket atmosphere & attention to detail.. We had a kingsize room & our friends had a suite. Some of the rooms overlook the main road which is quite noisy first thing in the morning. We ate in the restaurant on the first... more

There are a host of decent hotels in Southwold all offering excellent food. We were attracted to this one by the 2 nights for 1 offer on accomodation which was further enhanced by 2 main courses for 1 which we discovered when we arrived. The staff were fantastically welcoming both on the phone and in person on arrival. The Southwold... more

I first stayed in this hotel when I was 7. That was a very, very long time ago. It was called the Pier Avenue then. It had a gong which summoned you to dinner, and if I was good I got to bang it. Soup was brown, and so were the meat and veg. Luxury! I've stayed a few times... more

Despite first impressions of a rather 'suburban' location and look to the outside of the hotel, the interior is attractive, and staff superb. Clearly a happy team, which is reflected in the outstanding, enthusiastic service. We ate in the restaurant both nights, as the food was superb. The restaurant has a seaside feel about it, without losing cosiness. For those... more
