Stayed here while on business in Newmarket, staff were pleasant and breakfast was acceptable but the rooms really need a make over. The bathrooms are shabby and require a good clean, the standard of housekeeping is unacceptable, very old mattresses with springs pushing through, sheets instead of duvets, lack of showers in some rooms. Ok for a B&B on a... more

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your recent stay at The Riverside Hotel. The Riverside Hotel is a 200 year old building with characteristics that many people find appealing and with a broad range of rooms that suit all tastes. Please be assured that we do take your comments most seriously and I have discussed your observations...

Hotel decor tired and in places shabby (badly fiiting/frayed carpets)- in need of revamp. Gardens pleasant and spacious. Staff not always easy to locate. Stayed on coporate business trip - meant to be a treat -but didn't really turn out that way. Had been told by our hosts that anything we wanted could be charged to our room (i.e evening... more

Please accept my sincere apologies for the disappointment encountered regarding our restaurant at The Riverside Hotel. I accept your comments you made regarding the times for your meals and the subsequent disappointment at then not being able to eat. There seems to have been some confusion between my staff regarding the "last orders" situation which I have now clarified. Our...

Recently returned from the Riverside Hotel. On arrival my wife and I were presented with our accomodation, one of the outside cottages Number 25. Which is close to the hotel car park and the main road, noise is apparent at all times of the day and night. The door to the room opens outwards. We were paying £80.00 per night... more

We booked a family room which turned out to be on the third floor and left us very disappointed. There was a large dip/hole inches wide in the floor next to the double bed, the carpet was stained all over and frankly I have better in my summer house. Dirty washing in sack from Bourne textiles left in cupboard and... more

I, my husband and another couple with a child all stayed here when we were attending a Christmas party in the area. On calling the hotel (twice) they remarked that there would be a party at the hotel too that night which I thought was positive - at least we were warned. The price was also very reasonable at £65... more

I booked a five night stay before reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. This is because the brochure dishonestly said that the hotel is in Bury St Edmunds. The hotel is in the centre of Mildenhall near the high street and market square. It is a typical small English town hotel. Our rooms on the first floor were a bit... more

We stayed one night at the Riverside and had our dog along, hence we were sent to the cottages. Oh my...tired furnishings, peeling paint, damp feel, musty smell. Food in the hotel was rather average. The only thing nice to say about the place is the wonderful staff. They seemed to bend over backwards to make us feel welcome. Won't... more

We had our Christmas Party at the Hotel and had a great time. The Hotel has recently been taken over by a new group and the improvements are tremendous. The staff are very friendly, the food was great and I understand they have a new head chef. Well done to everyone and keep up the good work.! more

My partner and I booked this hotel so we could go to Ladies Day at Newmarket, the Garden Cottages sounded lovely on the web-site we used to book, but they are in fact the last resort for the hotel when the main house is full. Our room had large amounts of damp on one wall and the furniture had definitely... more
