Stayed here one night while visiting the Aldeburgh Festival, as I wanted to visit the Long Shop Museum (Garrett's) in Leiston. Reception and room were pretty basic. Breakfast was rudimentary. The best I can say is that I got a good night's sleep and did not pay much. Curiously, like another reviewer, I found the car park full on my... More

I turned up at this hotel to be greeted on reception by a very friendly bloke who I later found out was Darren the manager. He booked me in and was very chatty and made me feel welcome straight away. He got a very helpful woman to show me up to my room and I must say I was very... More

These are clean rooms above the pub with reasonable level of decor and a comfortable bed. The pub is not the prettiest from the outside - but it is perfectly acceptable inside. The thing that stands out for this stay is the outstanding service. We mentioned when booking that we wanted a taxi and the manager rang us twice to... More

I had an overnight stay on business in the area - and that seems to be what a lot of people use this hotel for. At breakfast there were a number of workmen from nearby Sizewell power station. It is certainly a good bit cheaper than nearby hotels in the chocolate box villages (which Leiston isn't - though there is... More

I'd forgotten how bad hotels could be. Booked a family room which was in very shoddy condition, as is the rest of the hotel. Was greeted by a very dim teenager who had no idea how the booking worked via booking.com nor where our room was. Main bed was comfy (two singles pushed together) but you could feel mattress springs... More

We stopped into this hotel, in hope to get a family room for the night. We were in luck. Staff were really friendly as were the locals. The room was a great size with bunk beds for the kids. It was clean and had everything you needed for one night. The tv was poor though limited channels and tiny .... More

"Very friendly people running this place. Could be very good with some basic repairs and a bit of redecoration. Good deal for the price (in the area). The breakfast was very good indeed and the coffee worth going out of your way for. We also had a quick drink in the bar and it was a pleasant place - friendly... More

Nothing complicated about this place. Very comfortable room, friendly staff, and a great breakfast. We stayed the better part of a week and spent time in the room as well as the bar. The bar was lively and was nothing short of fun when the Thorpeness Rugby Club showed up after their club's 20 year reunion

Thanks to Matt & Neil for our weekend stay. Everything was perfect and soo friendly and welcoming. We will be back! Unfortunate the restaurant was closed - but this was deducted from our bill, but there is plenty of restaurants and cafe in the area.

This Hotel provides basic but clean rooms a good lively bar and a restaurant with good well prepared meals at a reasonable cost. Yes it could do with an upgrade to the rooms décor but the staffs friendliness and helpfulness make up for this shortfall in my opinion. The restaurant is excellent, the Sunday roast superb and a bargain for... More
