My partner and I stayed at the Orwell weekend of the 4th October, When we arrived we were greeted by a pleasant young lady on reception and checked in without a fuss. The hotel is very grand, or could be . This is where we started to put some belief into the past reviews we had read on here. The... More

The biggest frustration was the fact that the hotel was unable to create room key cards, so you kept having to find and ask a member of staff to let you in to your room! Okay problems happen but apparently this has been going on for over a week! The food was actually pretty good, and the service in the... More

We meet for lunch once a month and have been meeting at the Orwell four the last 5 months, we have had problems with the bill and drinks and meals that arrived that we didn't order, the female waitress was understanding and corrected the problem in a very professional manor. On the July 6 2014 our group met, we ordered... More

after 6 long hours travelling i came across this hotel and walked in to see if they had any rooms available, which they did. They had a wedding on,which in the reception area was very noisy- i dreaded to think what the noise would be like in my room! I asked the young lady on reception to put me away from... More

My wife and I had stayed over the last few years a few times but each time it was failing just a little more.but we would chance another stay. Sadly it will be our final stay as the hotel seems to have failed to improve . On checking in we were informed that the key code machine had broken and... More

We stayed in the Orwell Hotel last weekend and we were very impressed by the quality, price and service received during our stay. Taking into account the presentation of other hotels we have stayed in the UK we were very satisfied with our decision. We loved the decoration of the hotel and the room, the service was excellent as well... More

Avoid this atrocious inelegant 'hotel' at all costs. The rooms are dirty and scruffy, hot water is not always available. The Eastern European staff are largely rude unhelpful and sullen. The whole place has this rundown air of decay and neglect. The food quality is terribly poor and hygiene is very suspect. Threadbare carpets throughout the public areas, poor room... More

Pleasantly surprised when arriving at hotel.looked lovely and was til we went in our room. Although the bedroom was quite tired with old wallpaper and carpet was pleased with room size and nice clean sheets. However the bathroom had cracked tiles, missing hand rail in bath and the most atrocious and unhygenic ceiling tiles which looked as tho they had... More

We were surprised at how nice this elegant hotel was, and what good value. The room was fine and the service was excellent. The downstair lounges were an unexpected bonus. The 2 course evening dinner in the beautiful restaurant for £10 a head was great value, and the breakfast was fine.

Stayed a single night here at £76 for B & B for me and my wife. My younger wife prefers modern minimalist type hotels, this was fine for me and I thought it oozed character and charm, but with wooden panels and hallways and brown leather chairs it can appear a bit dark. The staff are clearly in the main... More
