Stayed there for 4 nights as part of a Leisure Time Coach trip. A little apprehensive, having read previous reviews. On arrival, my apprehension seemed correct. The hotel has a shabby exterior but our welcome was good with cups of tea while the other coach was attended to. Bedroom was basic but beds very clean, bathroom was adequate. However, we... more

I stay at quite alot of hotels on business and like the experience of trying those other than the normal "Holiday inn" "Travel inn" Travelodge" experiences. I'll start with the good points: Good location, right next to the sea. Near the pier/amusements/ leisure centre. Room had a sea view. Clean , new bed linen, smelt very nice! I had an... more

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. It is dirty, smelly and disgusting. The decor is antiquated, the service is appalling. Our room had a thin duvet, hard pillows, hadn't seen a hoover for some time, there was mould on the tiles, the toilet wouldn't flush, the sink wouldn't drain and I did not wash because I... more

A large group of us stayed at the hotel for a long weekend on a walking holiday. It bore no resemblance to the comments made in August 2008. The staff, mainly european, were always friendly and helpful. We paid around £45 per person per night for dinner bed and breakfast at group rates and the evening meal was 3 courses... more

The description on the website was totally different to the reality. At the prices charged for bed and breakfast we expected much better. The decor was very shabby and not terribly clean and we would have gone elsewhere if Felixstowe had not been booked up because it was carnival weekend. Where were the hairdryer, trouser press, mini bar and sky... more

I thought I'd write after reading some of the other reviews on here. The Marlborough is far from your fancy hotels seen on the television but it is far from those prices aswell! The decor is variable - the dining area is bright and cheery and my room was clean and comfortable. The staff were courteous and I found the... more

DIRE experience. I used this hotel on business. I was so disgusted with the 1950's teak interior, sticky carpets, cobwebs, mould and other filth that I ended up spending the night in my customers camper van on her drive not an ideal situation for a PLC. This is a shameful hotel that I suggest no one stays in. Coach parties... more

I was interested in booking again and so read the other reviews. We spent a couple of nights there last year. The hotel is right on the sea front and we had a view of the sea. OK the rooms are not great and I would not eat there. However, there is a great modern restaurant on the front in... more

My stay there was a nightmare, the furniture was very old, the bathroom wasn't clean, the food was more than horrible (can u imagine people eating that?), the bar is vey noisy. I don't know how they got the 2 star review rating. The hotel doesn't deserve even 1 star rating. The staff was great, they were trying to help... more

A 2 star hotel that provides 5 star service. Staff were very personable and accomodating. Booked a room near a lift with sea views as I am not able to climb stairs afer having gone through surgery. The hotel was a perfect retreat after my operation and was a "home away from home". The room, the food and the service... more
