A beautiful house in a lovely quiet location, albiet an hour from anywhere was sadly ruined by the most impersonal service. The hostess was aloof and unhelpful and didn't bother to introduce herself upon our arrival. Breakfast was served between 8:30 - 9:00, however after sitting at the big square dining table for half an hour (8:30-9:00) without any sign of our hostess, she finally graced us with her presence just after 9:00. The dining table was shared with all the other guests, which meant eating in silence with nothing but the clinking of knives and forks to break the silence (perhaps due to many people not enjoying the company of complete strangers first thing in the morning). It was awkward sharing one small basket of toast with all the guests and a pot of coffee with the lady at the other end of the table and continuously having to bother the other guests when wanting to use the butter, etc. It's the first b&b at which we've ever experience this sort of service or set... more
