My husband and I stayed in a 'good' room and had lunch and dinner at the Ship. The rooms are clean, comfortable and have everything you need but it's a shame they haven't been done with much flair or imagination - bit of a missed opportunity I think. However, to be so close to the sea and then to be... More

had a great day there yesterday having not been there in years. Lots of guest ales on and mini beer festival and bands. Food was very good with fish and chips. Great place to spend easter sunday afternoon with friends

My husband and I stayed at The Ship on a Sunday evening using a special offer of £97.50 for the room which included a food and drink allowance of £60.00 which was excellent. We stayed in Wood End which is a quirky room in the eves of the building. The room was simple with white bed linen. The paint work... More

I have to say I was disappointed. We usually stay in Aldeburgh for a similair price. Our Friday night stay with dinner cost £202 including a bottle of wine and a couple of beers. The drink was nice and the fish and chips too but the cheese board at £7 plus was poor. The bathroom was freezing cold and the... More

We drove through snow blizzards to get there, but it was well worth it. This lovely old pub in Dunwich serves excellent food, sourced locally, using only free range eggs and the finest fresh ingredients in their varied and extensive menu. We were made to feel welcome immediately, and nothing was too much trouble. Even down to finding decaf teabags... More

A weekend break to the Ship at Dunwich has been on our to do list for many years. So we pushed the "boat" out and opted for their "Best Room" to make maximise our experience. At £127.50 per night B&B our expectations had been set. So arriving on a windswept evening to be shown a small wooden chalet at the... More

Very much enjoyed a mid week deal offered by the owners. Excellent main dishes and also the starters were more than adequate for a mid day snack, excellent choice and very speedy service. Very full choice of breakfast menu, all with local produce. Our room, Beacon Hill was very peaceful, overlooking the rear beer garden, but could be more noisy... More

Took advantage of a night's stay offer which included bed and breakfast and £60 towards all food and drink. Very warm welcome, we arrived on a wet afternoon with our dog. The pub is obviously very dog friendly as there was no problem with our dripping wet dog getting warm by the open log fire. Room very comfortable and equipped.... More

Lovely room.Fantastic breakfast. Disappointing evening meal. I have a garlic allergy & the only options I had was ham & chips or fish & chips. When I explained this to the restaurant staff I wasn't offered any alternatives other than they grudgingly said we can do you a jacket potato. This came to me on a plate with nothing but... More

We had had a drink and eaten at The Ship before, but never stayed, so thought we would give that a try. As ever the fish and chips were excellent, and are highly recommended, with the real ales in superb form. The staff are very friendly here, and as usual the service was excellent. Very tasty breakfast, and well presented.... More
