We'd been to the Ship previously, albeit 10 years ago and had a wonderful time so decided to go again. The Ship has'nt changed much, a Conservatory and a couple of rooms have been added to the rear of the building. Ownership has changed but is asgood as ever. The chioce of courses on the evening menu/specials board is varied... More

While working in north Suffolk I stayed here for two nights. The staff were all very welcoming and friendly, the room was pleasantly furnished and everything in the bathroom worked well. There was a wide variety of choice for breakfast and everything was extremely tasty. The bar was warm and cosy and featured a lovely wood burning stove. The wine... More

Just spent three nights at The Ship with our two labradors and can't praise highly enough. Stayed in Greyfriars which is a good sized room, but very warm and cosy, two mintues from the beach with lots of lovely walks locally. We ate in the bar, sitting by a huge woodburner - really good food, generous portions and special mention... More

This was a real find for a dog friendly couple of nights by the sea. A best of both worlds location combining coastal vistas with plentiful countryside walks. A very warm and charming atmosphere with extremely polite, welcoming and friendly staff. Really good food and atmosphere. Really accommodating for visitors with dogs, they really are welcome. The bar area is... More

Everything, about The Ship, is good! Including Staff, food, Ales, and the area. BUT, the room we stayed in, 'Middle Gate', was quite small and had two single beds. Not a problem, however, every noise you can imagine could be heard. The walls are paper thin and for some reason banging doors shake the room at all hours, And, Fans... More

My wife & I, and our Jack Russell, stayed at this hotel recently, and everything about the hotel was great, the service and the food in particular. Unfortunately I left the charger for my laptop behind, and sent an email asking if it had been found, and Kim initially advised it had not, but after another search did find it,... More

Just enjoyed a weekend break at The Ship which was bit of a mixed weekend. I don't know whether we was expecting too much having read some of the earlier reviews but overall we were left a little disappointed. This is not to say we would not visit again but a few things not quite up to expectations. On the... More

My wife and self stayed for 3 nights at the The Ship, Dunwich. We were given a free upgrade because our original room room had problems with the shower. The accommodation was first class with a comfy room, good shower and a view overlooking the marshes. The food was excellent and service was really good. We have eaten and drunk in... More

We just returned from a last minute break to The Ship in Dunwich, and are already looking forward to returning. We chose it as a base to explore the area, and also because it is dog friendly, and we were very glad that we did. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our room. We stayed in a "good" room,... More
