We stayed for 2 nights last week and had a 'standard double'.This turned out to be up 2 flights of stairs, the latter being steep, fortunately we are not disabled. The room was £112.50 for B&B. and we had a smelly room without any extractor in the shower room. The pillows were old, floppy and had seen better days. The mattress also... More

We spent 4 nights here in early May with our dog. The Ship Inn is a lovely old property situated in a tiny hamlet and we ate there on two of the four evenings. The food (breakfast and dinner) was very good with a specials board in the evening to supplement the usual dinner menu. Our room was one that... More

This is a lovely old building, full of character and with a great beer garden and sheltered terrace outside. However, we encountered a number of issues, which, overall, spoilt our stay. The room was nice enough though rather small, but we found the bed uncomfortable. The kettle was faulty - we had to wedge the switch down. It was difficult... More

I drove out to the Ship Inn with family on May 4th after reading about their Beer Festival on May 4/5. We drove an hour. Only to fine No Festival. Asked the staff at the bar and was told, oh no its tomorrow and monday. Poor show. They said, well you can try a few of the beers. Spoilt a... More

We have just returned from three nights at The Ship. We took advantage of their 'Three nights' offer. Dunwich is, of course, unique and very beautiful and I think that The Ship is perfect for this location. The rooms were simple but with lovely bedding and very comfortable. The food was always of a very good standard without any pretensions... More

I stayed here for two nights with my husband and another couple and their two dogs. We found this to be quite a mixed bag really. I'll start with the rooms - they were lovely, very nice, simply appointed but pretty much everything you need. However, given this is an old building, two or three people walking around upstairs sounded... More

We were really looking forward to staying at the Ship and taking our two little dogs with us. The staff could not have been more obliging. Really friendly, gave our dogs a dog biscuit when they arrived. Loved everything about it. Rustic, charming and the food, under the supervision of Sam is excellent. Can't wait to return again very soon.

We had a lovely one night stay with our toddler. Very friendly staff. Great, good quality good food at very reasonable price. Excellent beer selection and reasonable wine list. Good child menu and my toddler ate very well. Very helpful with toddlers food allergy. Great location and beach is stunning. We stayed in room in main hotel, not great when... More

We stayed for a night, with our dog and have to say for people with dogs, The Ship is superb. A big, safe enclosed garden gives the dogs a good place to run around - apart from the large restaurant, our dog was allowed with us, so we ate in the small dining room for dinner and the conservatory for... It's been 39 years since we last detoured off the A12 to visit Dunwich and the Ship Inn and I have to ask myself why...... Life has been busy but with an early retirement (hopefully) hovering in the not too distant distant future we've now having time to revisit some of the haunts of our youth and last weekend it...
