My wife & I are OAP's but have NEVER stayed any place quite like this place with such a sour faced miserable bunch of (older than us) people! During dinner/breakfast etc they just sat & either stared into space or shut their eyes - did not converse at all - and if you dared to laugh whilst conversing youselves one... more

You must go and stay here - from the moment we arrived to when we checked out we felt like we were being spolit. On our arrival we were offered a cup of tea or coffee, which we enjoyed in the beautiful gardens - while watching someone playing tennis. Our room was spacious with views over the coastline, and was... more

This is the kind of hotel we suffered in the 1980s. It's shabby, damp and depressing. Please don't go to The Dales for a romantic weekend. It might ruin your relationship. A massive make-over is required. Change everything: From the stained polyester waistcoats worn by the staff, to the shabby carpets patched with tape to the unspeakable curtains in my... more

Spent New Year here (we go away each New Year'Eve to a different place) - New Years Eve and the next night. Like a pair of old slippers, the Hotel is not modern and a little worn but is oh so comfortable. The staff and the food were excellent. The location is rural and in summer must be beautiful. Within... more

We have just returned from our stay here. We celebrated our pearl Wedding Anniversary. The staff were aware of our celebrations and went out of their way to make our stay really special, however, we got the impression that this was normal practice. We stayed in room number 7 with the four poster bed. What a treat!! A few of... more

We booked into a ‘superior’ room and stayed at The Dales in November 2006 but it rates as one of the worst hotels ever in my experience for the following reasons. Reception As complete strangers to the hotel we had a very bad start to our stay. Having driven a considerable distance, guests should be welcomed in a more professional... more

Went here for a meal with my family,I have to say it was terrible. The food any the service was not what i expected from a place like this. After we complained not forgetting it was like paying London prices the duty manager showed no care towards us.Ended up having a blazing row and requesting the general manager. She never wrote to... more

We had a lovely mid winter stay here, our room was spacious with a lovely bathroom (we booked a superior room). Excellent views over the garden and little village of Upper Sheringham. The room was very very clean, they have furnished it with lots of homely things so you feel like your staying with friends or family rather than in... more
