Good points: friendly, helpful owners, with lovely cat; good breakfast (kippers if desired); conveniently situated to walk into Sheringham and/or visit the steam railway. Bad points: room cramped but adequate if you are not planning to spend too much time in it; some noise from the road (if at the front) and, on one night, a drunken female neighbour decided... More

3 of us travelling together received a friendly welcome upon arrival. This B&B is unusual in having a number of single rooms at a sensible price. This was ideal for us as a group of 3 men - much nicer than sharing rooms, and each with our own en-suite. The single room I had was clean and comfortable and well... More

I can only comment on room 2. Spacious. Bland, very noisy, mould in the shower, cracked tiles in the cupboard that calls itself an en suite, very cheap breakfast with waterery beans, one of each small sausage bacon egg, 3 slices tomato, few mushrooms and a slice of toast. Limited parking... But on the plus..5 mins from the poppyline., for... More

Having had a fantastic stay here last summer, I booked a six night stay which has just (sadly) come to an end - and I've got to say that the Melrose is just as good as it was last year. My room was spotlessly clean, had every facility I could want and a superbly comfy bed. Breakfast was cooked to... More

We stayed at the Melrose for four nights and found the rooms to be very comfortable and warm (our stay was in November 2013). Our hosts Suzanne and John were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were lovely with a starter of fresh fruit salad with strawberries, melon and kiwi. Having stayed in 5 star hotels... More

We selected this from the Visit Norfolk web site info which I'd printed out beforehand and which specified a price range. We were told the room would be held for an initial 1 hour - managed to extend this as we were some distance away - and asked to pay upfront but said we'd pay when we left... They mentioned... More

Very good for the price, great fruit salad breakfast came quickly and was freshly cooked. Nice to have lots of single rooms would stay there again. Loved the cat pity he wouldn't fit in my suitcase! Will return next time I visit Sheringham

Depending on what sort of trip I am going on, I have different requirements for the hotel I book. If I'm catching some sun I want a pool, air conditioning in my room and a short walk to the beach; if I'm treating my mum to a theatre break in London I want a lift, afternoon tea, nice toiletries and... My sister and I stayed here again and, as ever, we were very well received. The rooms are clean and comfortable with good en-suite facilities and excellent showers. The breakfast was first class and I'd thoroughly reccomend the Melrose
