We were staying at the Raddison Blue, Longyearbyen for one night as part of an explorer voyage package. On arrival we were allocated accommodation in the annex adjacent to the main hotel building. The sleeping accommodation consisted of a pull out sofa large enough for one, and a bunk bed in a separate room within the unit. Quality was lacking... More

When you visit Longyearbyen you are astounded by nature's palate. The hotel is centrally located and within walking distance from the shops, the museum and the Arctic terns' breeding area. The views from the dining room are simply spectacular. Staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, warm (very important when visiting the Arctic) and adequately furnished. The food... More

This is an interesting hotel when you compare it with other Raddison Blue hotels throughout the work. We stayed in a Superior Room so I would say the basic are very basic but you need to remember that you are in the wilderness where the environment needs to come first. The rooms are very comfortable although a good lick of... More

Longyearbyen is not a resort destination - if you have that frame of mind the hotel is wonderful. I can see why people have mixed reviews of this location. Keeping in mind my title I would say that the pros of the hotel are as follows: a) the main lobby area and breakfast (food in general) are outstanding, b) the... More

Don't expect the same quality you get in City hotels (understandably). This being said, the rooms are tidy. warm and spacious. Given the location, the hotel is reasonable. This being a large hotel, they get a lot of cruise passengers in and out. Thus the hotel is busy and the lobby area is often noisy. The lobby also houses people... More

This is the best hotel in town. It is near the center of town; great food options; nice little shop in case you forget something. The view of the main dining room is lovely. Breakfast was a plentiful buffet with good healthy choices. The rooms are small, but clean and comfortable. The staff was helpful and spoke English quite well.

We were travelling to Longyearbyen to pick up a cruise and spent a night at the Radisson Blu in June. We arrived on the late flight and check in at 2.39am was OK and we quickly were able to get to our room for a much needed sleep. The room was basic and quite small, we struggled to fit two... More

We had a great view but some had a view of the parking lot berm. They stored our luggage while we waited for our Hurtigruten MS Fram tour to begin. They let us sit in the dining room while waiting before and after the cruise. Once again they stored again while waiting for our ride to the airport. I think... More

We didn't stay at this hotel, but had a good buffet lunch one Sunday. They offered a broad selection of food - salads, meat, vegetables, and desert. Friends also enjoyed the shops in the hotel and the selection of polar merchandise.

I stayed here as a special treat for myself to see in the New Year. I've been to Svalbard before, but never during 24 hour darkness. It's spooky and at the same time excellent, in a truly odd way. If you want to feel like Amundsen or Scott of the (Ant)Arctic, this is the place to go. One of my... More
