it was with a great pleasure that we spent a night in this hostel in preparation for a three-night camping at the Ymerbukta Esmark glacier, all was washed, packed (some of the items taken to other parts of the journey were allowed to be left until the return from the glacier). At 02 00 we saw a fox crossing the... More

I selected this hotel because it was the only one available when I booked my trip. The location is terrible, it is not even in the city of Longyearbyn, but in a small village 3 km uphill. This makes really hard to go to town and then come back every time, especially if you have been on excursions all day... More

The place is clean, the food was good. It is not quite a hostel - but close to it. It is a bit far from town so be prepared to walk. You will share a bathroom down the hall - so bring flip flops. The rooms were clean but had signs of wear and tear.

It is a nice and clean guesthouse. A plain rom with 2 beds, with shower and toilet in the hall. It was no problem to share those facilities, no que and it was clean and nice. The breakfast was OK, with bred, cereals, cheese and some meat. And from 13-18 you could make your own waffles, and they tasted really... More

It is probably the cheapest place to stay. The room smelt of sweat- although it was clean. The Shared bathrooms were clean. Very noisy with people dragging suitcases up the stairs in the middle of the night. A long walk into town- about 30 minutes so not good if you are not mobile. I can say it was tolerable because... I booked this location based entirely on price - it was cheapest in town for my June stay, so I was totally not surprised that it is located in the farthest corner of longyearbyen, and that facilities have to be basic to differentiate from more expensive hotels - but that's not the reason I've given them such rating - read... My wife and I stayed here for one night before joining a G Adventures arctic cruise and found the rooms to be very clean and comfortable and the other guests very friendly. The shared bathrooms were not a problem as there were plenty of them and they too were kept spotlessly clean. The reception staff were friendly and helpful and... More

The rooms at the Spitsbergen guesthouse are basic but adequate for a cheap stay on Svalbard where many things can be prohibitively expensive. You stay in converted miners huts from the 1940's and it is a 15 minute walk down a long bleak road to the main town centre of Longyearbyen. Staff are very friendly and will help you book... More

...if you cannot care less about the 10 min walk along ng the straight road, but all you care is a comfy bed, nice breakfast than this is it. Cheap, convinient and the staff is extremely friendly and hospitable. The building is a bit old, but Hej you living in a dynamic heritage site practically. I saw two Svalbard reindeers... More

This is a nice hotel, does the job perfectly, yes you are a little out of town but lets face it town isn't big and it's easy enough to walk to. I shared a twin room with an "unknown" traveller I was joining an artic cruise with and it was fine, had a private bathroom, not shared to a floor,... More
