This is more like a hostel than a guest house. very basic, small room. It takes about 25 minutes walk to the town and can be challenging when it rains. However, this place provides us basic facilities for our stay, such as kitchen, laundry room, breakfast and receptionist area. We occassionaly see deer, arctic fox and wild birds at the... More

I booked a 2 night stay via Expedia. 4 days before I was due to arrive, I got an email from Expedia saying that the hotel was closed, and I would be booked elsewhere (actually, it was a bit of an upgrade). I emailed the new hotel, and was told that the Spitsbergen Guesthouse closes every year for the "dark"... More

We stayed around a week in the House #1, second floor and cooked the dinner ourselves every evening. For me the only down side of this guest house is its location. It's around 2 Km away fromt he city center; either you have to walk back and forth with your own legs, or you have to take taxi which will... More

Svalbard is a must see place for those of us that like to adventure into the wild, which in this case is the Arctic. I choose Spietsbergen guesthouse because it had the best offer per night in a place where prices can skyrocket very easily because of Svalbard's remote geographic location--which is more than obvious. Considering this, I chose the... More

The Guesthouse offers economically priced accommodation in Longyearbyen. In fact, it probably has around 90% of all the capacity for tourists of the island as the only two hotels are both quite small. As such it was attractive. The fact that it is a little out of town in the valley leading up to the glacier also gave it a... More

it was with a great pleasure that we spent a night in this hostel in preparation for a three-night camping at the Ymerbukta Esmark glacier, all was washed, packed (some of the items taken to other parts of the journey were allowed to be left until the return from the glacier). At 02 00 we saw a fox crossing the... More

I selected this hotel because it was the only one available when I booked my trip. The location is terrible, it is not even in the city of Longyearbyn, but in a small village 3 km uphill. This makes really hard to go to town and then come back every time, especially if you have been on excursions all day... More

The place is clean, the food was good. It is not quite a hostel - but close to it. It is a bit far from town so be prepared to walk. You will share a bathroom down the hall - so bring flip flops. The rooms were clean but had signs of wear and tear.

It is a nice and clean guesthouse. A plain rom with 2 beds, with shower and toilet in the hall. It was no problem to share those facilities, no que and it was clean and nice. The breakfast was OK, with bred, cereals, cheese and some meat. And from 13-18 you could make your own waffles, and they tasted really... More

It is probably the cheapest place to stay. The room smelt of sweat- although it was clean. The Shared bathrooms were clean. Very noisy with people dragging suitcases up the stairs in the middle of the night. A long walk into town- about 30 minutes so not good if you are not mobile. I can say it was tolerable because...
