Came here for last meal of our stay. Lovely interior which had a very cosy, sleek feel to it. The burger was nice (bun in particular). Watched the football here too on a nice big tv sitting on a lovely sofa. Would return if back in Longyearbyen/Nybyen.

I stayed for 4 nights during the Total Solar Eclipse. the stay was warm compared to the extreme cold outside. Although our cabin was some 70 m away from the reception (separate block), it was close enough to walk over. The cabins are warm, the basic cabinets are great for the winter clothes, the shared bathrooms were very clean and... More

We were a film crew staying in Longyearbyen this March. Coal Miner's Cabin was a great and simple place to stay. The service is polite and very helpful. The breakfast is better than expected, with warm bread, juices, fruit, vegetables and lots of different toppings. The rooms are clean, so are the bathrooms and there was never any que. This... More

Only thing to keep in mind is the fact this guesthouse is a good 15 minutes walk from town. Now in most places you would say so what. However, depending on the time of year you may be facing -30C ,horizontal snow and gale force winds stripping the skin from you face while worrying about a chance encounter with polar... More

The guesthouse was a reasonably pleasant experience. There are some works in the main building, so breakfast was displaced and at the expense of choice it was actually served in our building (of several, ex-coal miners' lodges). The guesthouse is at the very end of the village, but not much hassle in going into town, even on a snowy day.... More

This is more like a hostel than a guest house. very basic, small room. It takes about 25 minutes walk to the town and can be challenging when it rains. However, this place provides us basic facilities for our stay, such as kitchen, laundry room, breakfast and receptionist area. We occassionaly see deer, arctic fox and wild birds at the... More

I booked a 2 night stay via Expedia. 4 days before I was due to arrive, I got an email from Expedia saying that the hotel was closed, and I would be booked elsewhere (actually, it was a bit of an upgrade). I emailed the new hotel, and was told that the Spitsbergen Guesthouse closes every year for the "dark"... More

We stayed around a week in the House #1, second floor and cooked the dinner ourselves every evening. For me the only down side of this guest house is its location. It's around 2 Km away fromt he city center; either you have to walk back and forth with your own legs, or you have to take taxi which will... More

Svalbard is a must see place for those of us that like to adventure into the wild, which in this case is the Arctic. I choose Spietsbergen guesthouse because it had the best offer per night in a place where prices can skyrocket very easily because of Svalbard's remote geographic location--which is more than obvious. Considering this, I chose the... More

The Guesthouse offers economically priced accommodation in Longyearbyen. In fact, it probably has around 90% of all the capacity for tourists of the island as the only two hotels are both quite small. As such it was attractive. The fact that it is a little out of town in the valley leading up to the glacier also gave it a... More
