Had a good stay at the Coal Miners Cabins beginning of February. Was only staying in Longyearbyen for one night before heading out on a research trip. The room was simple but had everything I needed and was very clean. The only problem was the room was cold when I arrived and the heating was off. Would have been nice... More

We were staying at the guesthouse across the road and wanted some place local to eat. The coal miners grill definitely delivered. One of the best steaks we have both eaten with a perfect chargrilled taste. Mmmm I want another one. Unfortunately the creme brûlée was not of the same standard. Burned on the top and ice cold and solid... More

I have been here with a group of colleagues. We were here training for an expedition deep into the Arctic. We spend a lot of time belong to town parameters learning skills to help us survive. When we get back to civilisation we always bust the Coal Miners. I have been here and bumped into friends and I have been... More

This review is for the restaurant, for some strange reason, they don't have a separate listing for this? The food was very good, and also reasonable prices. One of the less expensive restaurants in Longyearbyen. Burgers at around 100. Other main courses (BBQ) less than 200. The food was grilled, and the tenderloin was served on a "cantina style" plate,... More

The apartments are quite a long way from the main town but it is a stunning walk even if it is snowing and you may see reindeer beside the road. A taxi is an option back to the guesthouse but it costs nearly £20 (best to share). The cabins are indeed basic but comfortable and surprisingly warm and cosy. There... More

Stayed here for 1 night in August 2015. The room was very clean, the front desk staff very helpful and the breakfast simply delightful. No need to stay elsewhere in Spitsbergen, this place is a 10 minute walk to downtown.

Its a small building.. rather group of buildings and the least costly in whole of Longyearbyen. Rooms are clean, with sufficient space for a single person with a comfortable bed. The window curtains are not sufficient to block the sun during the night hours. Shared bathroom was kind of ok. However, the funniest and the saddest part was the dining... More

Pleasant hotel on Spitsbergen. Away from the center about 15 minutes. Very tasty breakfast, a well-equipped bar and free wifi. Small minus a bathroom and shower outside the room and no TV in the room, but on Spitsbergen did not come to watch TV. . Very friendly service.

They were utilitarian. Reminded me of army accommodation. It's clean, shared showers were clean, shared kitchen was clean. This is a hostel and your cheap accommodation option in Longyearbyen. It's not a hotel, but it's clean and functional, good base for silly arctic exploration. We are planning to go back in March and we will stay here again. If you... More

This is a long trek from Longyearbyen centre and I'm not entirely sure it's worth it. The bar and reception area look as if they were recently restored and they are very attractive, warm and comfortable. The food in the evening was disappointing; my burger was not particularly warm and was quite rare, although I wasn't asked if I wanted... More
