This is a comfortable hostel. It is very basic but clean. The toilets and showers are in the hall but they are clean and convenient. There was a sink in the room. Breakfast was generous and more than adequate. It is the farthest accommodation from the center so be prepared to walk. You can always order a taxi. The staff... More

Stayed one night here. This is more a hostel than a hotel. Facilities in the hallway (with Gary Larson polar bear cartoons). In the (very clean) room there's a faucet to brush teeth and wash face. There's a living room and a breakfast room. Breakfast is simple but good, as is everything here. Very friendly staff. Pay extra if you... More

Stayed two nights. Located about 2 kilometers from Longyearbyen itself, take this into consideration. Clean, quiet and comfortable guesthouse. They are licensed so you can buy alcoholic beverages on site, as well as other items. Cheap by Svalbard standards. Reception staff is helpful and friendly, and the airport shuttle bus stops right outside the door. Wifi costs extra. It's a... More

Okay, this is nothing fancy and the beds are indeed to soft, but the place is spotlessly clean, the breakfast is good and there is a good kitchen for cooking your own food. There is no 24-hour service at the reception but you can always call someone who's responsible by phone, and they'll be there shortly. The staff is very... More

My husband and I booked two beds in their 4 bed dorm and loved the experience. The guesthouse is very clean, kitchen is well equipped to cook and the bathrooms are very hygienic and clean. With a backdrop of the Sarkofagen (which is a lovely hike), this place is a bit remote from the centre of the city, but given... More

Basic but clean, and very friendly and helpful staff. Nice atmosphere. Takes about 25 minutes to stroll into "town" which is nice if you like somewhere a bit more secluded (although it is very close to the excellent art gallery). Not so good if you want to be close to the supermarket (which by the way has everything so don't... More

Norway is itself costly, and Svalbard is costlier than mainland. I have booked this hotel for 3 nights and later came to know that I need a 2 or multiple entry Schengen Visa. I had singly entry visa, so I was trying to cancel my trip, including flight and hotel. I had sent a mail to Gjesthouse, and Sanna talked... More

This is as close to backpacker accommodation as you're going to find in Longyearbyen. It's also as cheap as you're going to find. Or in our case the only accommodation still available, which was fine. It's a little out of the main drag, maybe a couple of k's and the accommodation is quite basic, but it's got everything you need.... More

Hotels are quite expensive in Longyearbyen, but this hostel like guest house is actually a good and cheap alternative. The rooms are very basic, and toilets and showers are placed along the hallway. There is a continental breakfast included and it is quite nice, a bit like what you would eat for breakfast at home. Everything is clean, and the... More

Basic, clean and excellent value. A perfect base for Svalbard. Yes, it is on the edge of town. However as Longyearbyen is very quiet the 35min walk was a much appreciated distraction. I'm not the fittest of people and managed the slope back to the hotel quite easily at a slow and steady pace. Even with a ridiculous amount of... More
