Unfortunately, by the time I reached the Himalayan Hotel I was suffering from a severe chest infection, which required a visit to the local doctor. When I got back to the hotel the staff were extremely kind and considerate. I was given one of the large downstairs rooms in the main building and was served supper in my room. The... More

we stayed at the Himalayan Hotel in January, 2015. while the weather was generally cold, we were lucky in that our arrival corresponded with a period of warm sunshine and so we had lunch out on the lawn. the food was good. we stayed upstairs in the old section of the hotel (rooms 5 and 6, i believe). the rooms... We stayed in the old wing which is a beautiful heritage property with a great view. You could spend your entire stay reading in, if only the meals at the hotel were a little more palatable (for what it cost us). Also the place has quite a boarding school feel, complete with lights out around 10 pm. Even the wifi... More

Stayed at this calm & quite hotel for three nights in the last week of Dec-2014.We booked four rooms at the first floor of the heritage block and two rooms at the first floor of the new block. The rooms in the heritage block are spacious, well preserved, comfortable and exude the flavour of the colonial era. Rooms at the new... More

My wife and I stayed one night in the new wing on the second floor. Amazing room with very nice indoor and outdoor living areas. Very bright due to lots of openable windows (no air conditioning but a fan), and wonderful views. Our friends who stayed in the original building had very dark, gloomy rooms with no TVs. Our room... Stayed at this during my diwali vacation in Oct 2014. Good things: Beautiful property, bit old but Clean, helpful staff, location is also just 10 mins walk from main market. Bad: Food is extremely costly and simply can't afford their meal plans. Will need to take food from outside. As market is just 10 mins walk, we always has all... More

Evidently there is a better place to stay in Kalimpong but we did not go over to check it out. The Himalayan has an excellent central building but the annex rooms are substandard. The sheets did not stretch under the mattress so that once you got into bed they immediately became a tangled mess. The wifi kinda worked but often... More

Stayed for a few days at the Himalayan whilst visiting Dr Graham's Homes. Can't fault the hotel - had a nice room in the annex with balcony overlooking the Himalayas and everything I needed. Hot water, good food, charming staff who couldn't do enough to help, walking distance to the main centre and yet peaceful in its own gardens. I... More

The main building of the hotel is a 100 year old place with antiques and old paintings and photos. The dining area was large and the staff was excellent. As this was our last stop before we headed home after a 10 day trip, we were missing home food, we did not enjoy the food much. The rooms were nice... More
