It is a lovely property. Rooms are nice with a little balcony in each. We took a non carpeted room. The hotel had very few customers whereas the nearby 'Elgin' was full. Breakfast we ordered was cooked and presented decently. For lunch and dinner though one has to give them a 3hour prior notice . It's a peaceful dwelling and... More

After the noise, chaos and crowding of small town India this hotel, with its beautiful gardens, old fashioned charm and efficient, helpful staff provided a delightful interlude and resting place. 15 of us stayed for two nights and would have liked longer. The hotel is within 5 minutes walk of the centre of the town and is well located for... More

I think this hotel mostly lives from it's good reputation from the past. The location is lovely and the garden beautiful. The room we had was in the old building. It was charming in an old fashioned way and clean enough for us. But the staff was not very nice. We asked for hot water to make tea which was... More

I was looking forward to staying here, having read the history of the place. The only positive thing that can be said about is the garden is lovely and the verandah area very attractive. Otherwise it is terrible. I was staying in one of the new rooms yet the carpets were old, shabby and none too clean and the shower... More

I remember this hotel from 25 years ago and was looking forward to staying in it. Standards have slipped and all that is left is the reputation. I gather it has been sold by the family who ran it for generations and it was left to run down during the sale process. The new owners have put no money into... More

Unfortunately, by the time I reached the Himalayan Hotel I was suffering from a severe chest infection, which required a visit to the local doctor. When I got back to the hotel the staff were extremely kind and considerate. I was given one of the large downstairs rooms in the main building and was served supper in my room. The... More

we stayed at the Himalayan Hotel in January, 2015. while the weather was generally cold, we were lucky in that our arrival corresponded with a period of warm sunshine and so we had lunch out on the lawn. the food was good. we stayed upstairs in the old section of the hotel (rooms 5 and 6, i believe). the rooms... We stayed in the old wing which is a beautiful heritage property with a great view. You could spend your entire stay reading in, if only the meals at the hotel were a little more palatable (for what it cost us). Also the place has quite a boarding school feel, complete with lights out around 10 pm. Even the wifi... More

Stayed at this calm & quite hotel for three nights in the last week of Dec-2014.We booked four rooms at the first floor of the heritage block and two rooms at the first floor of the new block. The rooms in the heritage block are spacious, well preserved, comfortable and exude the flavour of the colonial era. Rooms at the new... More

My wife and I stayed one night in the new wing on the second floor. Amazing room with very nice indoor and outdoor living areas. Very bright due to lots of openable windows (no air conditioning but a fan), and wonderful views. Our friends who stayed in the original building had very dark, gloomy rooms with no TVs. Our room...
