As the name suggests, Gurudongma House is not a hotel, it's a home, and very soon feels like a 'second home' in Kalimpong. It's up the hill to the south of the main town and bazaar in a pleasant, peaceful setting with a well-kept, delightful and interesting garden. We were welcomed with tea and home-made cakes in the charming main... More

We were recommended to stay here on our visit to Kalimpong and I am so pleased that we did. Katherine who runs this homestay was so welcoming and helpful. Everything was done to make our stay comfortable and memorable. When we arrived we were given darjeeling tea. Much attention to detail was paid to the food and it was all... More

After finding our way to this lovely B&B hidden away on hill top since our driver did not know the way and the sign was difficult to see from a certain angle in the road. A taxi would have been easier. We were greeted warmly by the owner Jimmy Singh and the staff Shanta and Sandra. Immediately we were served... More

The location is perfect for exploring Kalimpong. We went to the market in Kalimpong, which was out of this world. The owners of the house are really inspiring. The income from the house is used to support a school in Samthar (where there is another amazing farm house - Samthar Farm House - where guests can stay in a remote... More

The road winds up the hill from the bazaar and the noise and dust disappear. Suddenly the taxi turns sharp left and down a steep drive to the front door of Gurudongma House. The staff come running and in a matter of moments you are sitting in the garden gazebo with a cup of tea and some tiny ctisp pakoras.... More

What we personally liked at Gurudongma House was the care taken to ensure that our stay there was tailored to meet our needs. Katharine, the joint owner, was willing to spend time with us and offer suggestions about interesting places to visit in the area and where to buy specific items. She seems to know everyone in the town and... More

If you are looking for a very peaceful and relaxed place to stay, this is the place. The view of the mountains is spectacular and the garden is pretty, so plenty of special places are available to sit and watch the world go by.. Transport is available should you want to visit the township. From Gurudongma House there are many... More
