We chose to stay at RIDE because we were interested in learning about the reality of a rural development organization. We had one full day of visiting the projects that RIDE has been involved with over the 30 years of its existence. The projects range from abolishing child labor in weaving factories, to establishing schools, to supporting a village self-help... More

I stayed at RIDE in September 2014 for a couple of days. The Guesthouse is very clean and also big and it is seperated from the owner's place next door. It is a bit out of Kanchipuram in a very harmonic and beautiful little residental area, where you can get a little peace. For me this was good after a... More

We booked 2 nights at RIDE, at the end of our 3 weeks travelling round Kerala and Tamil Nadu, as we wanted to find out something about the lives of ordinary working people. Britta and Jayaraj organised a village tour for us, where we met 2 local teachers, silk weavers, a tailoring class and 2 home businesses set up using... More

My time at RIDE has spanned the past year as a volunteer, staying at RIDE for up to three days a week and getting involved in many of the activities of the NGO (Non-government organisation). Staying at RIDE is a unique opportunity; it is about real life in India and is off the main tourist trail, located in a village... More

We stayed at this place in June 2009 for some days and it was amazing to see and to learn, what Jayaraj and his family reached for the village people. The guesthouse is - compared to other hostels we stayed during our 3 month India travel - incredibly clean, the food is excellent. We recommend this place - if you... More

I stayed at the RIDE HomeStay for 3 weeks whilst working as a volunteer for this amazing little NGO. The guesthouse is a great place to stay, very comfortable, very welcoming, wonderful home cooked food. RIDE'S Founder Jeyaraj and his wife Britto are amazing people who have dedicated their lives to challenging the scourge of child labour and bonded labour... More

I stayed at RIDE in June 2012 and would highly recommend a visit! The opportunity to learn about the NGO work of RIDE is unique and gives a real flavour of grass-roots development work in South India. Jeyaraj and his family are truly inspirational and are an absolute joy to stay with, and Britto's food is fantastic. Staying here is... More
