We had gone to Puri on a family trip in December 2012, and were booked into another hotel. On reaching there we got to know that it was being renovated, and so decided to move to other hotel. On exploring around, we came across this hotel, when we mentioned the name of the hotel to my mom and Dad... They... More

We were looking at a place for overnight stay in Puri and all popular hotels seemed booked as it was a long Holi weekend. I have a certain love for all things heritage...so when we were politely turned away from Holiday Resort (no room till 9:30 pm) I persuaded my family to give Chanakya BNR a shot. I was enchanted... My wife and I stayed for four nights over the Holi weekend. The hotel is about a ten minute walk from the beach. The property is grand, however, it is not well maintained by the current management. The staff are eager to help you with smiling faces, however, they are not trained professionally to provide the service efficiently. Our room... More

I have stayed in this beautiful colonial hotel since childhood. The hotel has been handed over to some group who have not kept up its old tradition. The hotel once boasted of the British era with white uniform waiters, lovely laid dining tables with white table cloth. Silence was maintained in common areas and slippers were not allowed in the... If you want to spend a calm and peaceful holiday with your family, this may be a good option. This is an old building converted in to a hotel. I must say it is nicely done. I was there for three days during holi 2014. The hotel seems to be nice and clean. Big rooms, large terrace. But, the food... More

The BNR Hotel, Puri is the first hotel of its kind, owned by the Indian Railways. Originally belonging to the Bengal-Nagpur Railway, then to the SE Railways, it is now managed by the Chanakya group. The hotel is located on the sea front. The rooms are named after the erstwhile princely railways of India. The restaurant servces Indian cuisine. The... More

Starting from the pick up at the railway station to the reception at hotel to the spacious clean and big rooms and the food it was a nice experience overall. A little on the pricey side but we felt it... More

This was a real 'last days of the Raj' hotel, wonderful airy verandahs, huge rooms, all named after rail lines, trains etc. Beautiful manicured gardens, and an excellent pool. Our room was spotless, and very well equipped. The hotel was quite empty, really couldn't understand why. We had dinner in the restaurant on our first night, good food, charming waiters... More

Hotel Chanyaka BNR, Puri We were a group of seven and drove down from Kolkata. We stayed at the “famed” BNR Hotel at Puri. The hotel is not inexpensive and we had heard so much about the hotel. Our two day stay at the hotel was disappointing . The sea is a good 300 m away and only visible from... More
