We stayed at this B&B on Fri, 2/13/15 and chose the little cottage (old smokehouse) out back. It was warm, cozy, and very quiet. The bathroom was very tiny, but it was a complete -- private -- bathroom. There was a small fireplace and a little sitting area in the back. We were intrigued to see what they'd done with... More

The 1861 is a lovely B&B in a quiet town just outside Cincinnati. The house is old but well taken care of and very comfortable. I like B&B's with lots of seating and relaxation options and this place has both. We stayed in November so we didn't have a chance to use the pool, hot tub or porches, but we... More

The hubby and I stayed for 3 nights at this delightful small B&B. The 1861 Inn is nestled onto about 3+ acres of treed gently rolling land. Breakfasts are delicious and the innkeepers, Tom & Carole are all about making guest feel at home. Both of them are quite knowledgeable about the area and the various events in and around... More

The 1861 Inn near Cincinnati, OH combines the authenticity of its architecture with modern conveniences. The hosts, Tom and Carol, are warm and gracious; Carol's breakfasts alone are enough to keep you coming back, and Tom's directions are better than Google maps

You will not find a more accommodating, charming , spot with such gracious hosts in Carole & Tom! We found the inn 4 years ago I believe and look forward to our trip there each spring. The whole inn is beautifully decorated and the breakfast is delicious! Carole is a wonderful gourmet cook and baker. It is so very lovely... More

A feeling of warmth and hospitality was clearly present during our recent visit to 1861 Inn. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing ambience, beautifully decorated room and exceptional food; all graceously extended by the inkeepers Tom and Carole Cottrill. The meals alone merit recognition as each was expertly prepared providing both a visual and culinary delight. The 1861... More

This place is phenomenal. My husband and I spent a night here to celebrate our anniversary. Carol took the time to tell us the history of the house and show us around before showing us to our room. The house is beautifully decorated with many kitschy and antique items. Our room was wonderful. On the small side but dominated by... More

I stayed in the 1861 Inn for a week while in Batavia for training at Sporty's flight school, which was less than 10 minutes away by car. Tom and Carole were very accommodating with my unpredicable morning schedule, and breakfasts were consistently the best I've ever had at any B&B... and I've been to many! Although the weather was less... More

Not sure why, but they had a loofah and sponge in the bath tub, which looked like it had been used!!! Gross. Advertised a hot tub and heated pool, but the pool was freezing cold. They said that is was broken, and they were waiting for a part to fix it. No one told me that when I booked my... More
