My wife and I stayed in the villa earlier this week as part of our honeymoon. Despite the promise of a warm villa, we arrived to a broken 'fireplace' which had been replaced by a small space heater (we weren't advised earlier of this) which was struggling to heat a 1m radius around it, let alone the villa. Then there... More

I stayed for one night and found the traditional style great fun. That said, the rooms get cold in the winter as the only form of heating is a freestanding electric heater. I had to have mine changed as it was faulty and the staff did this immediately. My room was not supposed to have a sea view, but it... More

We have just stayed here for 4 days, it's a heritage listed property on the sea front, a good old fashioned guest house. We had an ensuing room on the ground floor and I suggest these are perfect for older couples, there are also upstairs rooms. Our room was well furnished with a very comfortable bed and tea and coffee... More

We rocked up to the Anchorage late in the afternoon. The manager on duty showed us a nice room (separate bedroom and ensuite). I had read some reviews that weren't so favourable so wasn't expecting too much. Perhaps these were from cheaper rooms. It was all quite lovely and very clean. There was some peeling paint but I thought it... More

Old, classic, beautiful building Small room, high ceiling, comfortable bed (first floor) Tiny, clean bathroom Walls very thin, you can hear everything Wi-Fi doesn’t works in the room Hotel very near to the city center, horse tram, steam train station, Granite Island. Lovely restaurant - dinner just ok, a bit pricey. Breakfast was good (capuccino, banana bread, muffins etc) Friendly... More

Just do it. This is an old guest house facing Encounter bay. You risk (?) the noises from next door but the rooms are attractively presented, the bed comfortable, spa suite and the outlook unbeatable. The kitchen is first class and at breakfast (8a.m) you'll find the local ambos in for coffee while you have breakfast ...so the locals recognise... More

The hotel is cute. Old building, classic decoration. Room has good size. We stayed at the Queen Room with Shared Bathroom. You might think that isnt good since you dont have your own bath. However, when we stayed the hotel seemed empty so use the shared bath was not a big deal. The varanda has a beautiful view. Totally worth... More

We stayed in a spa suite. It was nice and the bed was very grand and we had a lovely view from the balcony over the water. However the walls were very thin and we could almost hear the conversations next door. The door into the bathroom also may as well not have been there as other than creating a... More

We stayed the night at the Pub and the accom was good with a great sea view, sadly no whales in sight yet, but if they were there to be seen, we'd have seen them. Had dinner in the restaurant, the waiter - sorry I didn't catch your name - was appropriately attentive and knowledgeable about the food and wine.... More

Warm and friendly check in for our spa room with sea view. The room is quite small but it was as pictured. The corner spa is lovely, not the largest one we have used but we both fitted in. Clean, comfy and decent toiletries plus a hairdryer. The view is beautiful and with the door open we could hear the... More
