On The Wallaby was the last hostel I stayed in during my 2 months travelling in Queensland, and I couldn't have asked for better. I planned to only stay one night, but the amazingly friendly staff, brilliant central location for everything in the Tablelands, and high standard facilities meant I found it hard to leave, so ended up staying 3... Yungaburra is a lovely little town and great to spot platypus! The On The Wallaby Lodge was a homy little place with very friendly staff. We stayed there with our Jucy Campervan, $20 for 2 people. So if you plan of visiting the Atherton Tablelands and want to see platypus, the Wallaby Lodge is the place to sleep!

I went on the 2 day/1 night trip to the Atherton Tablelands with On the Wallaby and it was definitely the best trip I had in my 2 months in Australia! I was picked up on time, maybe even a little early, by a super enthusiastic driver - Lawrence (even though it's only a temporary job for him). He made... More

On the Wallaby was unfortunately a very short-lived experience for us: evening, sleep, and breakfast. Upon arrival, late by about an hour, we were cheerily greeted by our hostess, who showed us around the place, which had fewer than 6 other guests at the time. We had all of our questions answered with the zeal of an enthusiastic traveller (our... More

I came to stay at On The Wallaby for a week, and ended up staying (and working) for 2 1/2 weeks - much like a lot of people who end up extending their stay. This hostel is fantastic, though does have a few flaws. The staff are really friendly, the kitchen and living areas are very well kept, and the... More

We did the 2 day/1 night tour where the one night lodging was at On the Wallaby. First day was to Lake Barrine and Millaa Millaa falls and our guide, Cherene, was fantastic! She's the best tour guide we've ever had anywhere on our travels. Funny, engaging, friendly and knowledgeable, Cherene made the tour exceptional! We stayed one night at... More

My second stay at On The Wallaby. As always, completely helpful staff and a clean, well appointed backpacker option. Were able to arrange an alternative tour option when our initial plan didn't work out. Any backpackers on the Atherton Tablelands should stay here :)

I did the tour of the tablelands about two weeks ago and I must say it's one of the best tours I've ever done. Paul our guide was one of the funniest people I've ever met and was full of information on the flora and fauna of the tablelands. You go to crater lakes, go for a forest walk to... More

We stayed here for one night with the on the wallaby tour. We wish we could have stayed longer because it is such an relaxing and clean hostel. The staff (and the dog Chief) makes you feel welcome immediately! Thanks for the great stay!
