We stopped for two nights on our way to cairns. Room was quite small for 3 of us, however, there was a large lounge, kitchen etc in separate building opposite which was lovely, as we only really shower and sleep in the room it was fine! sue and Mick were very friendly and offered us a lovely breakfast and info... Hi Chris and Stuart - thanks for the review. You are right about the Queen rooms being a bit small for three people, and the King Suite is a much much better option (for three people). Thanks to Stuart for the concreting tips :-) Love to all in sunny Gloucester Mick and Sue More

Licuala is a great place to de-stress - one can just sit on the verandah, maybe with a wine, and watch the butterflies flit from flower to flower in the mini Garden of Eden below. Most accommodation is across the pebbled driveway from the main house, and is set in a tropical pole house style block of four beautifully decorated... More

Hi littlefmrt - many thanks for your review. We have won awards for the garden several years ago, and I think now is the time to re-enter the competitions. Just the one flight of stairs to reach the rooms - can't quite stretch to one of those fancy elevators at the moment, but you never know what may happen in... More

We recently spent a very relaxing three nights/four days at Licuala Lodge. We wished we could have stayed longer! Sue and Mick were wonderful hosts and the accommodation was exceptionally comfortable. We appreciated access to cooking facilities - BBQ and hot plates etc. Loved the fridge with its beer selection ( and ice cream selection) and our complimentary bottle of... More

Hi Taweiss - many thanks for your review. For all those who do think that they may stack on a few kilos during breakfast, then don't forget that you can always accompany Sue or Mick at our local gym, or help with some of our chores (cleaning, gardening, mowing the lawn). Spookily enough not many guests opt for helping with... More

Hi Manz01 - thanks for the review. Always happy to have guests from nearby Clifton Beach. All the homemade stuff is going down well with all our guests, and very soon we'll be harvesting more fruit from the garden (pineapples, mangoes, dragonfruit). See you again soon, and love to all in Clifton Beach Mick and Sue More

The moment we drove into the lodge we felt relaxed. The rooms are very much like a safari lodge but very clean and comfortable. Outside of your room you have some chairs and a table to relax. In the main house you have a full kitchen BBQ's and tea and coffee making facilities and a TV to catch up on!... More

Hi AlandMary (clever name) - thanks for the review, much appreciated. Sue now bakes all her own bread and cakes, makes jam, marmalade, peanut butter and butter. I think that she might be after a pay rise. I on the other hand am still a trainee waiter. Sorry about no kettle in the room, but can't have everything. On the... More

We spent 2 nights at Licuala Lodge and enjoyed the staying at this lovely home tucked in rainforest gardens. You are away from the beach however we knew this when we booked. All the beaches in the area are beautiful and you are positioned an easy drive to each. The beaches are great if you want to sit and sun... More

G'day Kegs - many thanks for your review. Mission Beach is all about chill-out time, and here at the Lodge you can relax and re-charge life's batteries. A lift to the walking trails is all part of the service - glad that you could enjoy the rainforest that surrounds Mission Beach. Love to all in sunny Adelaide Mick and Sue More

We only stayed 1 night but we loved to stay a couple of days longer. The garden is beautiful and the room lovely! We had a veranda were we sat and have a drink in the evening, in the morning we woke up with the birds singing from the (rain)forest. Amazing. Breakfast is delicious and the owners are very friendly.... More

I'm sad to only have spent 4 days here with Mick and Sue. Everything is perfect! The gardens are like a slice of paradise. Our rooms were wonderful: super comfy beds, tastefully furnished and lots of personal and luxurious touches. Brekky on the verandah each morning was sublime. It was hard to choose from all the yummy homemade options. It... More

Thanks for the review RedPanda :-) This time of year (winter for us) our poinsettias are turning into that wonderful red colour, and lots of other flowers are also flowering (Justicias, Jacobinias, Orange Trumpet Vine). I initially booked three nights accommodation at the Licuala Lodge, but enjoyed the location and the hospitality so much I extended my stay to eight nights. The lodge sits at the edge of the rain forest five minutes drive form the beach. To sit outside on the balcony and watch the wildlife was just amazing. The Ulysses butterflies, the kookaburras,... Hi FiBogan - many thanks for your review. We are more than happy to pick up guests travelling via the Greyhound. A great place to stay with a beautiful rain forest garden full of butterflies. Mick and Sue are great hosts and the breakfast really is delicious. We saw the local Cassawary and would have seen her two days in a row if we were not enjoying the pool so much the first time.

Hi Tony - many thanks for the review. When the sun shines the garden is alive with lots of different butterflies including the iridescent blue Ulysses.
