Wow, what an amazing place & experience. Thanks to Paul, his staff and the amazing chef, we had a most wonderful stay at this very unique sanctuary. Having just hiked on Hinchinbrook Island I thought, from the reviews, that this would be the perfect place to transition to for a bit of luxury mixed with the wilderness, wildlife and great... More

This is a very special place, which my wife and I have completely fallen love with. We had an amazing stay, although it might not be for everybody. Initially we booked a hut with bathroom, but on arrival we decided to change to one with shared bathroom instead as the shower with the huts only had cold water anyway and... More

R & J July 2014. So glad we chose to stay at Sanctuary Retreat. My husband and I really enjoyed our 7 nights in the rainforest. Unique, peaceful, private, unspoilt, authentic....friendly staff and amazing environment. Fantastic to see the cassowaries doing their thing. Great location, loved the walking (even up the hill), the beautiful beach, Bingal Bay etc etc Thanks... More

A unique property. A great place for yoga retreats or group gatherings..Awesome views of coastline and nested amongst the forest. You can order from the cafe or cook your own which is a great combination.

This was recommended to me and I thought I would go outside my comfort zone. I really was excited about this stay. The rainforest cabin was very comfortable, with a nice bed, quality linens, and complete privacy and serenity. Hiking up to the bathroom in the main retreat area was not as bad as I had expected. The bathrooms were... More

My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights and we had a rainforest cabin. Our first impression when we got to the parking lot was "wow, this is very remote". After having a close encounter with a massive spider and a cassowary, we finally managed to pick up the courtesy phone at the parking lot, to call the reception.... More

A very unique style of accommodation, a hidden gem. The feel of the place is very different to anything else we have experienced in FNQ, the cabins are secluded and private and tie in with its natural surroundings. A general relaxed vibe surrounds this unique environment, the proprietor and staff are very welcoming and friendly. Dining in the cafe is... More

Just the most wonderful and most peaceful place I have ever stayed at. After seeing relatives in Tasmania, and all around Sydney, we sent for a week to the Sanctuary Retreat. We stayed in one of their wooden cabins set in the side of a hill. Wonderful views out to the sea and our detached cabin, with its own balcony... More

I stayed in one of the hut while I backpacked around Australia. It was so perfect for me. I looooved falling sleep to the sound of the jungle. I met really wonderful people who were also staying there. Loved that there was a kitchen the guests could use.
